Taylor Kitsch Dishes on Wolverine Role

Taylor Kitsch, best known for his tremendous role on Friday Night Lights, is excited about his role in next year's X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The young, talented actor recently spoke to Media Blvd about the part:

Who did you play in the movie?
I played a character called Gambit. He’s just another comic book character that has kinetic energy. It’s a fun role. You’ll have fun watching it.

How familiar were you with Gambit before you got the part?
I knew of him, but I didn’t know the following he had, and I’m sure I’m still going to be exposed to that. I love the character, I love the powers, and I love what they did with him. I didn’t know that much, but in my experience, it was a blessing to go in and create my take on him. I’m excited for it, to say the least.

Is it fun to play a superhero?
Absolutely! It’s a great ride. I had so much fun in Australia.

Will.I.Am Speaks on Wolverine Movie Role

In an interview with MTV, Black Eyed Peas member Will.I.Am talks about his role in the upcoming Wolverine spin-off, X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

"I'm a teleporter... I'm here, I'm there, I'm everywhere. Boom, boom, boom!" the singer said. "My character's name is John Wraith. He's a black Texan. He's not a cowboy, but his gear suggests that he is. He's just a badass who'll whoop your ass."

Will.I.Am

The aspiring actor sounded grateful for the experience, which also Ryan Reynolds, Dominic Monaghan, Danny Huston and, of course, Hugh Jackman in the title role.

"It's my first movie," Will.I.Am said. "And with Madagascar 2, I think there has to be an angel or something or my grandma's prayers guiding that. It's pretty, pretty dope. And I'm grateful and happy about it all."

Wolverine: A Beach Bum

Of all the ways we can describe the character of Wolverine, beach bum would not exactly be anywhere on our list.

But in the following shot from the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, it's clear that Hugh Jackman is decked out in World War II garb, ready to do battle in a scene seemingly out of Saving Private Ryan.

This sequel/prequel to the X-Men franchise tells the story of Wolverine's violent and romantic past, including his relationship with Victor Creed and the unique Weapon X program.

The photo above (click to enlarge) certainly makes us curious as to how being an actual soldier fits into the story of Wolverine.

Hugh Jackman Opens Up About X-Men Origins: Wolverine

Hugh Jackman recently spoke to The Herald Sun about X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The actor is deep into shooting this X-Men spinoff, working Down Under alongside costars Liev Schreiber and Ryan Reynolds.

"I'm used to these movies now," he said to the newspaper. "They're big and there's a lot involved, a lot at stake, so it's always high pressure. But Gavin Hood, our director, is a real force. He's an Oscar-winning director (for Tsotsi) and he's used to working under different kinds of pressure and stresses."

Meanwhile, Jackman hand-picked Melbourne youngster Kodi Smit-McPhee to play Wolverine as a young man.

"He's one of those kids who's fearless," Jackman said. "I hope he doesn't read this article because yes, there is pressure on him because of who he's playing and the expectations of fans. I was lucky to be completely ignorant of fans' expectations and the whole world before X-Men came out. I just hope he doesn't read too much or go on the internet because he naturally has the goods I know the fans will love."

X-Men Origins: Wolverine hits theaters on May 1, 2009.

"They had somehow seen some of my past films and thought I'd be right for the role."
