Will Ferrell and Adam McKay Fuel Anchorman 2 Rumors

Wrier Adam McKay has teamed up again with Will Ferrell for the upcoming comedy Step Brothers.

When these two sat down with ComingSoon.net to discuss that project, however, focus turned to the exciting possibility of a follow-up to an earlier film that focused on a certain, arrogant, clueless news man.

"We just had so much fun making that movie, and it was hard to get made, but what's been great is that it's taken on such a life of its own," Ferrell said about Anchorman, while hinting at the possibility of a sequel. "At least the feedback we get is it's beloved, so yeah, it's just one of those that feels like an evergreen thing that we can go back and do it again."

Ron Burgundy gets himself ready for an Anchorman sequel.

McKay also commented on the rumors of Anchorman 2.

"We had a lot of ideas," McKay said. "The opportunity to be that free and loose. The audience would give us a lot of rope with that character at this point, a lot of free rein. They all know it, and they all know it's going to get crazy, and that's just too tempting. It's like oh my God, where can we go? What's the next level of this idea we can push to?"

A suggestion of showing Ron in the 1980s has been flloated, McKay added.

"We got about seven ideas we're kicking around right now, so somewhere out of all of them, it will somehow fit together."

Will Ferrell Explains Land of the Lost

At a recent press day for his upcoming comedy Step Brothers, ReelzChannel asked Will Ferrell for a few details about his highly anticipated adaptation of Land of the Lost.

"I think it's a great blend of paying homage to the show mixed with what I think could be a different genre, this kind of adventure comedy where we really use the adventure to set up the comedy and we're able to comment on these situations that you would love to see characters comment on," Ferrell said.

Land of the Lost will be released in July of 2009.

Sacha Baron Cohen, Will Ferrell to Team Up for Sherlock Holmes Movie

How awesome does this sound?!?

An untitled comedy is being planned that will star Sacha Baron Cohen as master detective Sherlock Holmes and Will Ferrell as Watson, his crime-solving partner. Variety has the story.

Etan Cohen (Tropic Thunder) is writing the script, while Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller will produce.

The comedy is inspired by Arthur Conan Doyle's Sherlock Holmes series.

It reteams Baron Cohen and Ferrell, who played rival racecar drivers in the 2006 hit comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, which Apatow and Miller also produced. As you can see, the actors get along quite well:

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are Step Brothers

On July 25, Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly team up again in Step Brothers.

The pair were recently interviewed by Joblo.com, asked about how they came up with the idea for the comedy. Here are excerpts from the conversation:

You guys had this concept back when you made Talladega Nights, so where did this idea come from originally?
John C. Reilly: It wasn't that far back was it?

Will Ferrell: No, we just had the idea of trying to work together again, but in terms of a specific idea it wasn't until meeting back in Los Angeles and pitching a bunch of things and then it was really, we had settled on two or three options and I think Adam called us the next day and said "Here's a totally brand new idea that we hadn't thought about" and it was this one and we were, "Oh."

Step Brothers

How did the writing work?
Will Ferrell: Actually, I shouldn't even say this - we farmed it out to China. There are a group of writers who work, they are called the Omega group and they are pretty close to our voice, there were some cultural things that were slightly different.

John C. Reilly: All the script notes came from India. And they would just talk to the writers in China.

Will Ferrell: It was a very belabored process, but we didn't have to do any of it, which was great.

Will Ferrell Speaks on Semi-Pro and... Zoolander 2!

When MTV spoke to Will Ferrell for his new film Semi-Pro, one of the biggest nagging questions the network wanted answered was the status of that long-rumored sequel to Ben Stiller's classic ode to male modeling, Zoolander.

"Yeah, there was a little talk," Ferrell said. "I brought it up to Ben really five years after the fact. Just for whatever reasons, it's just not crystallizing."

Wow. How excited are we over the mere mention of this possibility, though? We need more Zoolander quotes in the world!

One of the biggest obsticles for the actor, he said, was how his evil designer Mugatu could fit into the plot of a sequel.

"That's the other thing," Ferrell said, sighing. "I mean, Mugatu, what do you do with that guy? Would he still be obsessed with that?"
