Twilight Sequel Possibly Planned for 2009

There might be a New Moon rising already in Hollywood.

With two months until the first Twilight movie comes out, there's already talk of a follow-up. Aside from last week's Twilight sequel speculation from Taylor Lautner, another film (or two) would make sense:

Twilight author Stephanie Meyer made the story into a trilogy, with the second book titled "New Moon."

Now, Shock Till You Drop is reporting that a time frame has already been lined up a New Moon movie: December 2009. This would confirm Twilight producer Wyck Godfrey's recent assertion that a scriot for the sequel was already written.

"The goal is, we've got the [sequel] script ready to go and come December we want to shoot it for about the same time - for the weather and stuff we don't want to be in the heat of the winter," Godfrey said in March. "Obviously, you know the next book and know we can go out into the sun a little bit more. Hopefully, we'll have it ready to go and ready to start prepping for the beginning of next year."

Taylor Lautner Fuels Twilight Sequel Rumors

It's one of the most anticipated movies of the fall.

So much so, in fact, that talk of a Twilight sequel is heating up months before the vampire flick hits theaters.

At least it is for Taylor Lautner. The young actor, who plays Jacob Black in Twilight, is aware that his character is featured far more in the following two books of this Stephanie Meyer series.

That's why MTV News asked Lautner if he thinks about the possibilities of sequels in the franchise.

“As much as you try not to, you always do, because you’re like, ‘Oh my gosh, that would be so much fun and so cool,’” Taylor said. “But nothing’s confirmed yet, so I try not to get my hopes up too high.”

Taylor Lautner

Lautner's character fights as a wolf most of the time, but that doesn't mean this rising star isn't doing everything in his power to prepare himself for future entanglements. He's bulking up for his hopeful role in more Twilight movies.

“I’ve been lifting weights five days a week, eating tons of protein,” he said. “I’ve actually put on about eight pounds in just two-and-a-half months.”

Stephenie Meyer Comments on Twilight Movie

Like many authors that have seen their books adapted for the big screen Twilight author Stephenie was worried that her words and characters wouldn't resonate well in a movie.

"I lost a few nights of sleep over it," Meyer told ReelzChannel. "More adaptations than not turn out badly. There are a few that are amazing, but most of the time it's not a good thing. But then on the other side, I saw the book very visually when I was writing it and to see one scene of it on the big screen, that was alluring. I didn't care about anyone else going to see it, that was about me alone in the theater getting to see it and having it be real. That's what swayed me."

Stephenie Meyer

Stephenie Meyer is the brains behind Twilight.

The writer continued:

"As an author, you can't try to control that kind of project. First of all, as an author, they won't let you. Second, it's a different medium and I don't know how to work in that medium. I was very much [of the opinion that] Summit knows what they are doing and when they had questions for me, I was ready to answer them and I really loved seeing what was going on.

I have not seen the whole thing yet, but from the script and from the days that I was on set, the goal was to make this as close to the book as possible given the time constraints of a film."

Edward and Bella Enjoy the Twilight

Michael Welch Talks on Twilight

Michael WelchYoung actor Michael Welch recently sat down with MTV to discuss his role in the upcoming vampire movie, Twlight.

Here's an excerpt from the interview:

MTV: Believe it or not, there might be somebody out there who still doesn't know what Twilight is. So if you could, explain Mike Newton.

Michael Welch: Mike Newton is a cool guy. He's a fun character. He is hopelessly obsessed with the new mysterious, interesting, beautiful girl in high school. He's got some contrasts [because] on the one hand he's this athlete, a basketball player, and on the other hand he's a geek and socially awkward.

He's like how "Family Guy" describes Shia LaBeouf: When Peter was like, "Not quite the nerd, not quite the hunk â€" Shia LaBeouf!" That's how I feel about Mike.

The Movie Trailer for Twilight

On December 12, a woman falls in love with a vampire in Twilight.

As you might expect, this causes more problems for the couple than Romeo had with Juliet. Check out the film's trailer now:

Robert Pattinson to Star in Twilight

Robert Pattinson has been cast as the male lead in the upcoming vampire thriller Twilight.

Harry Potter fans will recognize the young actor as Cedric Diggory from Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire.

Robert Pattinson

Pattinson "will play the role of Edward, a teenager who leads a double life as a vampire and becomes romantically involved with his nonvampire high school classmate Bella (Kristen Stewart)."

Sounds like an awkward paring to us. How will they date after midnight?
