Robert Pattinson and Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke attended a fan question and answer event at the Soho Apple store Monday night. The duo talked about the upcoming vampire movie, based on the best-selling book by Stephenie Meyer.

"We auditioned every gorgeous guy that acts on the planet," Hardwicke said. "(Pattinson) came over to meet with Kristen (Stewart, who plays Edward's human love Bella) and I. They auditioned and they did some scenes on my bed. These two had the chemistry."

Most fans in attendance - especially those of the female persuasion - had plenty of questions for the actor. Is he anything like Edward Cullen?

"I have an incredible six-pack. I'm joking," he joked. "I can run really fast. I'm good at climbing trees. I always get carried away when I'm kissing people. I just go nuts."

As for why Pattinson signed up for Twilight? The reasons weren't complicated.

"I liked Catherine. I like the story. Done."

Long-time fans of Twilight can talk amongst themselves for a few moments.

For those uninitiated in the world of Stephanie Meyer, here's a look at the unique family main character Bella befriends in the upcoming movie:

Led by calm town doctor Carlisle and his radiant wife, Esme, these ''brothers and sisters'' - Edward, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice, and Jasper - crave blood, but not of the human variety. The author reportedly balked at an early Twilight script because the screenwriter had cut her beloved Cullens, except Edward, entirely from the film.

Fortunately, they'll all be present in the film, set for a November 21 release:

It's sad, but true: not everyone is familiar with the story of Twilight.

For those that haven't read the Stephanie Meyer book, and aren't sure what to make of the wildly-anticipated movie opening next month, here's a character-by-character review:

According to Deadline Hollywood Daily, there's already a movement under way on a sequel to Twilight, one based on an adaptation of the Stephenie Meyer bestseller, New Moon.

The movie news site simply says: "Summit Entertainment's CEO Rob Friedman is already readying a Twilight sequel."

So, what would a Twilight follow-up look like?

According to Meyer's official site, here's a synopsis for New Moon:

"For Bella Swan, there is one thing more important than life itself: Edward Cullen. But being in love with a vampire is even more dangerous than Bella could ever have imagined. Edward has already rescued Bella from the clutches of one evil vampire, but now, as their daring relationship threatens all that is near and dear to them, they realize their troubles may be just beginning..."
