Catherine Hardwicke Reveals Twilight Casting Scoop

Attention, Twilight Saga fans:

Prior to this week's Teen Choice Awards, director Catherine Hardwicke revealed a rather juicy bit of news:

It turns out that Bryce Dallas Howard - who will replace Rachelle Lefevre in the role of Victoria for Eclipse - was the director's first choice for that character.

However, Howard balked because she considered the role too minor at the time. With Victoria featured prominently in Eclipse, the actress was glad to accept.

This seems to lend credence to Lefevre's argument that she was forced out of the project. Watch the revealing Hardwicke interview below:

What's next? Will we find out that Robert Pattinson was never the original Edward Cullen? We'll keep readers posted.

Catherine Hardwicke Talks New Moon

MTV recently caught up with Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke.

Check out the video below to see what Hardwicke has to say about making the follow-up novel New Moon into a movie:

Kristen Stewart Speaks on New Moon Movie

Twilight star Kristen Stewart is excited about the recently-announced sequel to her her movie: New Moon, which will be based on the best-selling novel by the same name begins shooting in March.

"A lot of the book takes place in Italy, and I think we're going to get to go to Italy, which is so cool," Stewart said. "For a while there, they were like, Oh, we don't know if we have the money, but now I think we may have the money!"

Twilight Writer Speaks on Movie Adaption

Melissa Rosenberg, one of the screenwriters behind Twilight, has spoken out about the challenges of adapting a best-selling novel into a blockbuster movie.

The executive producer on Dexter told TV Guide she tried to adapt the novel, rather than using it as a "jumping off point."

"We knew that if we were true to the book, if we honored it, fans would come with us," she said.

Edward Cullen

Rosenfeld saw a significant numbers of parallels between writing Twilight and writing for Showtime's Dexter, which chronicles the double-life of a serial killer.

"In both cases there is, at the center, a character who is not human, and seeks to be human," she said. "He passes as human, and is fascinated by humanity. What you get with characters like that is their exploration of what it is to be human, so it's a wonderful exploration, storytelling-wise, of that question exactly, and all the subtleties of it.

..

The grandest scope of love and commitment and the smaller things, like physical warmth, that appeals to me. That's what storytellng is at its heart, the exploration of the human condition."

Twilight Sequel Thoughts, Hopes

A Twilight sequel, based on Stephenie Meyer's book, New Moon, is already confirmed.

Moreover, the movie's director and star have thoughts on what the next movie will feature.

"It's got werewolves, it's got visual effects that turn people into werewolves, it's got motorcycle stunts, you go to Italy. It's probably twice as much as this [to film]," director Catherine Hardwicke said when asked about a New Moon movie.

And while the novel reduces Edward's presence, Robert Pattinson insists that New Moon is the installment he enjoys the most.

"I'm looking forward to doing the re-emergence ... at the end of the second book, when he's killing himself," the actor said. "I think that'd be kind of spectacular seeing that. And the second book is my favorite book, so I'm quite looking forward to doing it."
