Transformers 2 Screenwriter: Expect Darker Sequel

Roberto Orci helped write Transformers 2.

During a recent forum Q&A at TFW2005, it was apparent the scribe was hesitant to give away too many spoilers, but he did open up about the motif behind the sequel.

"One of the themes is about the responsibilities you face when being away from home - reflected by Sam [Witwicky, played by Shia LaBeouf] going to college and by the fact that the Transformers themselves, are of course, far from Cybertron."

Orci also said that Revenge of the Fallen will be darker than the original, while adding that the villains "will get more screen time than before."

Based on the picture below, however, it appears as though this could be the least of the actor's worries.

LaBeouf was recently photographed on the set of the Transformers sequel, looking bruised and battered. Let's just hope the other guy looked even worse...

Confirmed: Megatron to Return in Transformers Sequel

Not exactly earth-shattering news on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, but still worth reporting:

According to CHUD, Megatron will play a key role in the follow-up to the 2007 blockbuster. He'll be "brought back by the Autobots, who need him to conquer the new menace. But I've learned that this time he won't be that weird alien jet. This time he's a tank."

Megatron

As we've previously reported, the titular Fallen refers to one of the original 13 Transformers created by Primus.

In Transformers lore, the Fallen betrayed the god-like Primus by allying himself with the planet-devouring Unicron. The Fallen was eventually trapped between dimensions.

Transformers Sequel Spoilers Revealed by Comic Book

Tranformers 2What, exactly, is director Michael Bay’s plan for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen?

A few spoilers have already been leaked regarding the 2009 blockbuster, but an upcoming comic book may be the best look yet into next summer's release.

Hardcore fans can look forward to a five-part prequel miniseries entitled “Transformers: Destiny” that will to bridge the gap between the 2007 film and its upcoming sequel. Writer Chris Mowry recently talked to MTV News about the project.

“[We're going to] expand on the ‘Reign of Starscream’ story that we’re doing and tie everything in to what this next movie is going to be,” said Mowry, who partners on the book with artist Alex Milne. “The next movie starts out with just tons of action and there’s obviously going to be a lot of questions, so we’re hoping to answer some of those beforehand.”

Transformers Sequel to Include Shia LaBeouf's Injury

A blockbuster movie such as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen can't just be shut down for a few weeks.

That's why director Michael Bay says star Shia LaBeouf's injury from his weekend car accident may be tied into the upcoming sequel.

“His two fingers are pretty mashed, but we’re figuring out a way to shoot around it, kind of write it in the story,” Bay told Access Hollywood of the actor, who has undergone extensive hand surgery.

LaBeouf was charged with a misdemeanor DUI on July 27.

Writer Discusses Transformers Sequel, Plot

Roberto Orci, one of the writers on the Transformers sequel, has revealed part of the plot to MTV

“It’s about being away from home. It’s a few years later and Sam is going to finally go to college and he’s going to face being away from home just as the autobots are having to deal with being away from Cybertron,” Orci said.

Revenge of the Fallen

Sounds interesting. But what about the title? Why “Revenge of the Fallen?"

“Because Transformers 2 sounds stupid,” Orci said.
