Tobey Maguire will star in The Details, a black comedy that was originally a project for James McAvoy. But, according to Variety, the actor had to drop out due to a scheduling conflict.

Maguire joins Elizabeth Banks in the movie, which focuses on a struggling married couple that sees their lives further distressed by ravenous raccoons burrowing under the sod in their back yard. As you might expect, this causes more problems between the pair.

Ray Liotta, Dennis Haysbert, Laura Linney and Anna Friel round out the great cast of The Details. It will start shooting in September, prior to Maguire's turn in Spider-Man 4.

Tobey Maguire has managed to finagle a deal that will make him Spider-Man twice over, and a family man for life.

The actor who has reportedly signed a deal for his appearance in Spider-Man 4 and Spider-Man 5; the contract contains a clause that gives Maguire time off specifically to spend with his daughter.

Maguire, will film the two movies back-to-back over six months - but has insisted that he receive early mornings and evenings off to play with his daughter, Ruby, who is 22 months old. Moreover, the actor will earn $50 million - along with profit shares! - from the two movies.

Sony is expected to reveal in the next few days whether or not Kirsten Dunst will be returning as Mary-Jane Watson for Spider-Man 4 and 5. Reports indicate she'll be back.

Tobey Maguire has agreed to star in The Crusaders, a drama about the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education case.

According to Variety, Gary Ross will direct the movie, which will set Maguire up as Jack Greenberg, the idealistic lawyer who joined with the NAACP Legal Defense Fund to win a Supreme Court case that ruled segregation in American schools illegal.

Ross and Maguire previously teamed up for Pleasantville and Seabiscuit.

Tobey Maguire turns 33 today.

While never confused with any of the best actors alive, Maguire is one of the better liked stars of his generation. He seems like a genuinely nice guy.

The star hasn't officially signed on for Spider-Man 4 yet, but it's very safe to assume that he'll be donning the spandex again for that film's fourth installment.

Tobey Maguire is set to produce Afterburn, a comic book adaptation of the Red 5 comic of the same name according to Variety.

Afterburn is the story of a post-Apocalyptic planet after half the world is burned by a solar flare. In Afterburn, treasure hunters go back to the burnt side of the planet to retrieve hidden artifacts.

The original comic was written by Paul Ens and Scott Chitwood.
