In a new Los Angeles Times article, writer Frank Miller and actor Samuel L. Jackson talked about the upcoming graphic novel movie, The Spirit.
"It's very different than the look and feel of Sin City and 300 because the source material is so different," Miller said. "The Spirit is its own, full-color world."
Jackson, who plays The Octopus, added:
"There are some great scenes where we just go at it. Frank knew what he wanted to do. You look at this movie and you can tell it's his. Nobody else would make this movie this way, which is why he's doing movies now."

Legendar comic writer Frank Miller (300) makes his solo debut with an adaptation of Will Eisner's 1940s comic strip The Spirit.
The movie is about a police officer who, after getting shot and killed, comes back to life... with a major agenda. '
'The Spirit is out for justice,'' said star Gabriel Macht who plays the title character. ''He's trying to clean up the city and find his killers.''
At first, Miller turned The Spirit down.
''But three and a half seconds later I said, 'Hold on, nobody else gets to touch it,''' he said. ''It's a comic strip that's had a tremendous effect on my own work.''
