Zach Galifianakis Expresses Hesitation About The Hangover Sequel

There definitely will be a sequel to The Hangover.

But star Zach Galifianakis is actually unsure if there should be.

The Hangover Cast

In an interview with IGN, the actor said:

[Director Todd Phillips] is writing the script. But I haven't seen the script. I'm not running to do The Hangover 2. I told Todd, the last thing I want is the Police Academy chain all of the sudden, where I'm only known from… You've got to be careful with something like that. The movie's really good, why bother with a sequel? And I'm not saying that I'm not going to do it.

I'm just posing these questions. These are things I ask Todd. Obviously, the reason is executives have Bentleys to pay for. I would love, love, love to work with those guys again. The script has to be good! But I'm working with Todd on a movie we'll be shooting in about six weeks. So I'll do that first, and then we'll see how it goes.

Zach Galifianakis Speaks on The Hangover Sequel

As the man responsible for more hilarious The Hangover quotes than anyone, Zach Galifianakis can't wait to film the sequel to this summer blockbuster.

The actor, who portrays dim-witted Alan Garner in the comedy, spoke on the rumored sequel to celebrity gossip tabloid OK! earlier this week. He said he has his own hopes for what his booze-drinking character will be like in the movie.

“I’d like for him to have a really nice body,” Galifianakis said. “We haven’t seen a script. When I see a script I’ll get into it. I’m looking forward to it.”

As for shooting alongside Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and company again?

“Just working with those idiots again will be fun,” Galifianakis said.

The Hangover Sequel: Shooting, Release Date Planned

Director Todd Phillips pretty much confirmed a sequel to The Hangover last month.

But we can now report that Warner Bros. has officially greenlighted the follow-up movie, while Variety states that Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis and Ed Helms will also return for it.

Look for The Hangover sequel to begin shooting next October. The initial goal is to release it in theaters on Memorial Day weekend 2011.

The Hangover Sequel: Confirmed!

It's the surprise hit of the summer.

And director Todd Phillips says audiences should prepare to get hungover again: A sequel to The Hangover has been confirmed.

“We were thinking of sequel ideas when we were shooting, which sounds cocky, but we were doing it more because it was just fun to talk about ideas while hanging out on the set,” Phillips told MTV. “Two weeks ago I was saying, ‘let’s see how it works out.’ Now that the movie has really connected, it’s something we’re doing for sure.”

Memorable Quotes from The Hangover

The Hangover stars a guy from The Office and features a cameo by Mike Tyson.

So, how could it not be hilarious?!?

In case you are somehow not convinced, based on the description above, here's a sampling of The Hangover quotes:

Alan Garner: Counting cards isn't illegal. It's frowned upon, like masturbating on an airplane... Maybe since 9/11 when everyone got so damn sensitive. Thanks a lot Bin Laden! | permalink
Alan Garner: It would be so cool if I could breast-feed. | permalink
Phil Wenneck: Would you please put some pants on? I feel weird having to ask you twice. | permalink
Phil Wenneck: [his answering machine message] It's Phil, leave a message. Actually, you know what, don't text me. It's gay. | permalink
Black Doug: I always wondered why they were called roofies. Cause you're more likely to end up on the floor than the roof. They should call em groundies.
Alan Garner: Or rapies | permalink
