The first full length theatrical trailer for the blockbuster is set to premiere next month.

Chris Pine as Captain Kirk

Chris Pine takes on the role of Captain Kirk in next spring's Star Trek.

As TrekMovie.com reports: "The theatrical trailer coming in November'is not a teaser, but a real trailer with footage from the film. Edits are still being made, but it is expected to show the Enterprise exterior and the Enterprise bridge as well as dialog from movie."

Paramount releases slated for November that the Star Trek trailer could be attached to include: Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa (Nov. 7) and The Soloist (Nov. 21).

William Shatner Responds to Star Trek Snub

According to J.J.Abrams, William Shatner - the original Captain Kirk, of course - was offered a cameo in the upcoming Star Trek remake.

However, the director contends, the actor wanted the movie to focus on him and turned down this bit part. Shatner disagrees with that statement.

Check out the video below, where the Boston Legal star and his daughter reply to Abrams' explanation for the Star Trek snub:

Brad William Henke Reveals a Few Star Trek Spoilers

Brad William Henke isn't exactly an A-lister.

Best known for his work on ABC drama October Road, the actor has landed the role of Uncle Frank in the upcoming Star Trek remake. He recently spoke to Collider about the role:

On Uncle Frank: I play Captain Kirk’s alcoholic, abusive uncle when he’s a kid, and I treat him very badly, which forces him to go off and do what he does.

Brad William Henke

Brad William Henke shares some insight on the 2009 Star Trek movie.

On director J.J. Abrams: Awesome! Awesome, really nice guy, and really . . . You know I got the script, and first of all I was offered the role so I never saw the script, and then it was about three days before I was suppose to shoot and I still hadn’t gotten my scenes. And they said, “Well they’re giving some people just the scenes when they get there.” And I said, “Well I’m not that type of actor, so if you want it to be kind of good, you should give them to me right now. So they had to messenger it over and then I got to work on it.

But it had each line . . . you know, some words were underlined, so it was kinda telling you exactly how to say it. So I was like “Oh shit. This is exactly how I’m supposed to do it?” which, again, is not one of my fortes either. So I got there and he’s like, “Just do it however you want to do it, and let’s just play with it.” And we just shot these scenes . . . you know, cause they had the money they would shoot these scenes all day long from all these different angles. And he was so positive, and he was. . . he was awesome! He was such a nice guy, and so in to it. Running around, just really into it.

Star Trek Director Explains William Shatner Absence

Our thanks to AMC's SciFi Scanner. That site spoke with Star Trek director J.J. Abrams, who discussed why fans won't see William Shatner reprising the role of Captain James T. Kirk in the May 2009 movie:

Q: How do you react to William Shatner's ire at not having a role in the movie?
A: It was very tricky. We actually had written a scene with him in it that was a flashback kind of thing, but the truth is, it didn't quite feel right. The bigger thing was that he was very vocal that he didn't want to do a cameo. We tried desperately to put him in the movie, but he was making it very clear that he wanted the movie to focus on him significantly, which, frankly, he deserves.

The truth is, the story that we were telling required a certain adherence to the Trek canon and consistency of storytelling. It's funny -- a lot of the people who were proclaiming that he must be in this movie were the same people saying it must adhere to canon. Well, his character died on screen. Maybe a smarter group of filmmakers could have figured out how to resolve that.

Shatner

The original James T. Kirk won't appear in next year's Star Trek movie.

Star Trek Writers Promise Gadget Galore

While various Star Trek spoilers have revealed tidbits of plot information, writers Bryan Burk and J.J. Abrams didn't go there in a recent interview with MTV News.

The scribes were willing to talk about the gadgets involved in the 2009 movie, however, as Burk noted:

“We intentionally don’t talk too much about the story, but there’s all the gadgets you could want... There’s warp speed and transporter beams and tricorders and communicators and everything you could want. All the gadgets.”

Added director Abrams:

“It’s one thing in Star Trek to get all excited and freak out about communicators, but to them, it’s like it’s the new iPhone. These are just the tool they’re using.”

Star Trek Movie Spoilers, Plot Summary

Screenwriters Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman appeared on the Fox Movie Channel show, Life After Film School, this week.

Our thanks to CHUD for recounting the Star Trek spoilers revealed during the interview.

The J.J. Abrams' movie begins in the Star Trek present, some time in the The Next Generation timeline.

Romulans go back in time. Their goal? To either to kill Captain Kirk (Chris Pine) or his father, in order to prevent Kirk from ever being born (think of the original Termintor and the idea of killing John Connor's mom).

Chris Pine as Captain Kirk

Star Trek opens on May 8, 2009.

From there, Spock follows the Romulans into the past, appearing when the Enterprise crew were young. These events change the history of the Star Trek universe, either creating a parallel timeline that the films will now follow or simply overwriting everything else that we know in the movie's history.

As you can see, this is a sequel, a prequel and a reboot all in one. Sounds like a rismy maneuver, but one we can't wait to see take shape.

Kevin Smith: Props to Star trek

Kevin Smith has a great job.

Aside from writing and director popular comedies, the movie maven gets to screen upcoming films before they're released. Already, he's heaped praise upon Watchmen.

Now, it appears as though the director of Zack and Miri Make a Porno has seen a preview of J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movie, and has only good things to say about it.

Kevin Smith Picture

Sounds like Kevin Smith loves Chris Pine.

Here's a snippet of Smith's interview on the Kevin and Bean radio show last week:

Smith: I saw a movie last night that I cannot talk about.
Host: Was it good?
Smith: It was phenomenal.

Host: Any stars, any break out stars, and do they trek?
Smith: The stars absolutely trek in this film. It is fantastic. Anybody who was worried doesn’t need to be worried–about this film I cannot talk about…It was in very capable hands. The director did a phenomenal job...Top notch cast and the guy that plays the lead is an instant star. That dude is going to be so famous. He is so wonderful. He picked up a role that I would say is pretty challenging for someone to step into the shoes of, because it is a role that has been played before many times by the same guy.
