Sherlcok Holmes Trailer Revealed!

You've seen the photos. You've seen the poster. Now, Warner Brothers has released a trailer for Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes, set to hit theaters Christmas Day!

In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous characters, the movie sends Holmes (Downey Jr.) and his stalwart partner Watson (Law) on their latest challenge.

Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country. Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, Eddie Marsan and Kelly Reilly co-star.

Warner Brothers has revealed the latest poster for its upcoming reinvention of the literary detective Sherlock Holmes. Click on the image to see a higher resolution version!

The poster prominently features Robert Downey Jr. and Jude law as Holmes and Watson, respectively, looking rather dapper and a tad bit smug. Of course, Guy Ritchie is directing this retooling of the classic Sir Arthur Conan Doyle characters, so they have a right to be a little full of themselves. Or maybe that's just because they're British. 

Either way, they look much more dashing and daring on this poster than they do in a recent movie still. I hope that's just because they were trying to be incognito before.

Word around the campfire is that these characters will be a new breed of stodgy British detective, combining exemplary analytical skills with the ability to... kick ass? That's right, ye olde Scotland Yard apparently requires a black-belt in Guy Ritchie's version.

The Latest Sherlock Holmes Movie Still

The buzz over Guy Ritchie's big screen adaption of Sherlock Holmes continues to grow.

The movie, which opens on Christmas Day 2009, stars Robert Downey Jr. in the title role, with Jude Law as his loyal sidekick Watson.

With an Oscar nomination under his belt, the lead role in Iron Man 2 and a starring turn on the way in Guy Ritchie's Sherlock Holmes movie, life is good for Robert Downey Jr.

He said as much to USA Today, as the newspaper asked the star what has changed for him over the last couple years.

"I was the picking-at-the-leftovers kid for the first 22 years of my career, and it changed because life is like that," the actor said of good fortune after a few years of sobriety. "Sooner or later, once you pull the one-armed bandit enough, you are going to get some gold bars."

First Look: The Stars of Sherlock Holmes

Sherlock Holmes Spoiler: Villain Revealed!

In Guy Ritchie's upcoming big screen adaption of Sherlock Holmes, we already know the main players:

Robert Downey Jr. will be the iconic detective, while Jude Law is on board as his partner, Watson.

As for the villain they'll be pursing, British actor Mark Strong revealed to IGN UK who it would be: himself!

"For the purposes of this one and the detective narrative, I'm the guy that Sherlock's after, Lord Blackwood. And he's a cultist/Satanist lord who is the ultimate cad," Strong said.

Robert Downey Jr. is running the gamut of movie roles these days.

Here's the latest shot of the actor on set of the upcoming Guy Ritchie film, based on the life of Sherlock Holmes. No release date has been set for the flick yet, but we can report that it also stars Jude Law and Rachel McAdams.

In the film, Downey Jr. stars as the iconic title character. Jude Law is on board as Holmes' trusted colleague, Watson, a doctor and war veteran who is a formidable ally.

The gorgeous Rachel McAdams, meanwhile, will star as Irene Adler, the only woman ever to have outmaneuvered Holmes and who has maintained a tempestuous relationship with the detective.

The actor was recently spotted on the set of guy Ritchie's upcoming movie based on this crime-solving duo.

Speaking on the movie, Ritchie has said:

“My one concern was the accents but this is no longer the case. Robert Downey has the best English accent I’ve ever heard. Also Rachel McAdams is playing American (love interest Irene Adler), which is true to the books. Outside of that, Jude is obviously Brit. Robert was obviously going to be the big one, and we seem to have transcended that particular hurdle.”
