Kim Cattrall Speaks on Sex and the City Movie Rumors

As the actress rumored to have held up a Sex and the City movie, Kim Cattrall makes for an interesting interview. She recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to discuss the film:

How did it feel to go back to Samantha?
Really, really exciting. The first day of shooting was beyond anything that I had ever witnessed. A girlfriend came to visit me on the set and she nudged me and said, ”You guys are the Beatles!” On both sides of the street, in the middle partition of Park Avenue where we were filming, it was standing room only. All the plants were being crushed, people were yelling our names, our characters’ names, Pat Field’s name…

It was like they were in on something that they thought had passed and that they would only dream about or watch on DVD, and now they were part of it as well. It was really exciting. Getting back into shape with those high heels — that was the only not-fun part about it. At night, the goddamn balls of my feet were throbbing.

When the movie fell apart the first time around, all of the finger-pointing turned your way. How did that feel?
Well, it’s devastating, because it was not true. What am I gonna say? I tried to give the story and my side of it. My separation from my husband, and then my divorce, was all over the headlines here in New York and in the gossip columns. That was just really hurtful. People in my family I hadn’t even told, and because I wasn’t here or there with my husband, people starting putting things together. I kind of really needed to get away.

The cover story of this week’s Entertainment Weekly features a certain famous foursome: Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon.

The Sex and the City stars discussed how crazy it was to film their movie n New York City.

“‘On my first day, we all had to walk down the street together, and there were hundreds of people on Park Avenue, watching us,” said Nixon. ”It was daunting.”

Added Parker:

”It took two to three times as long to shoot. It’s flattering that anybody still cares about these characters. But it’s like an amoeba — ever-growing and out of control.”

Sex and the City: The Movie gets carried away - as its posted say - on Friday, May 30.

Sarah Jessica Parker Spears on Sex and the City Movie, Characters

How have Carrie, Samantha, Miranda and Charlotte changed from the heydey of the Sex and the City series to the upcoming Sex and the City movie?

Let’s find out from star Sarah Jessica Parker:

Their lives are much less frivolous. They can’t cope with their problems by putting on their sweats and staying up all night and ordering in food and gossiping about the men in their lives. There is less self-absorption but perhaps a little more self-awareness.

Movie Director Comments on Rumored Death and the City

Rumors floating around the release of the Sex and the City movie - sparked by comments Cynthia Nixon made - state that a major character will die in the anticipated summer release.

Specifically, talk has turned to the possible death of Mr. Big (Chris Noth) because, come on, none of the fab four will be perishing. That would truly be insane.

But director Michael Patrick King says the idea of killing off Big would be equally idiotic for the franchise.

“Kill Mr. Big? I would have been chased around the planet by women with torches,” he joked to the Associated Press.

However, King did confide that he was looking to infuse some layers of melodrama into this film adaptation of the show; perhaps not as much as a darker drama would call for, though.

“My ultimate target,” King said, “was to make our ‘girlfriends’ — in other words, our audience — happy. And I don’t think Mr. Big dying would make them happy.”

When pressed on the possibility of potential other deaths, the director seemed to hint at something: “It’s a summer movie,” he said. “Why would I want to kill anyone?”

Considering summer is the season for action-packed thrilled that involve many heart beats coming to an end, sounds like sarcasm to us - and another reason to go see Sex and the City: The Movie!

Sex and the City Movie Spoiler: A Character Dies?!?

Miranda HobbesTake this Sex and the City movie spoiler with a grain of salt the size of Perez Hilton’s ego.

But that celebrity gossip blogger has quoted Cynthia Nixon as saying a character will die in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the HBO series.

Tuesday night, at the Creation Nation comedy show at the Zipper Theater, Nixon reportedly told host Billy Eichner, “a character dies in the movie,” but refused to give any details.

We think this means one of two things:

  1. The story is not true;
  2. A minor character perishes. No way one of the big four, or any of their significant others, kicks the proverbial bucket.

We’ll all know for sure on May 30 when Sex and the City: The Movie comes out in theaters.

Sex and the City Movie Soundtrack: A Preview

The details of Sex and the City: The Movie have been guarded closely. All we can say for certain about the film is that it’s due in theaters on May 30.

However, director Michael Patrick King has told Entertainment Weekly that Fergie just recorded the film’s opening sing.

“It’s called ‘Labels & Love,’” he said. “It’s an entirely new song with lyrics, but it has the Sex and the City theme as the DNA — on steroids.”

Moreover, since this is a film about mouthy divas, Jennifer Hudson (who plays Carrie’s assistant), will lend her pipes to the ballad “All Dressed Up in Love.” It was written by MC Jack Splash and Gnarls Barkley’s Cee-Lo; it plays during the end credits.

“She sings it like nobody’s business,” said King.

Sarah Jessica Parker Comments on Sex and the City Movie Trailer

Carrie BradshawAs soon as the trailer for Sex and the City: The Movie was released, fans hit the message boards with questions.

Were Carrie and Big getting married? What’s going on with Charlotte and a baby? How much sex would Samantha be having?

Regarding the preview Sarah Jessica Parker said the spot aimed to tell some of the story without giving away too much.

“We also knew that people would make decisions about what that trailer meant and what those words meant and who knows what order we put it in and why,” the actress added. “I think in large part we did it because photographs had already [leaked] out and so people were telling us the movie that we were making — which was wonderful, but no one has yet told us actually the story that we’re telling. So it’s all out there in the trailer, but it’s not really the story.”

Does that mean that there were fake-outs in the trailer? Were fans duped?

“Um, yeah, there are fake-outs. I mean, not like a bait-and-switch — people aren’t going to come to the theater and feel hoodwinked or taken advantage of. We just had to be careful because it’s a movie with an ending that we wanted to keep protected.

So we had to be a little clever and a little stealth with the trailer, but we also had to give people a trailer. It’s not enough to just give you the images and music — I would be perfectly fine with that, but apparently that’s not acceptable!”

Sex and the City Movie Spoilers: Major Plot Details Revealed!

No sooner do we update our Sex and the City Movie home page than the cast spills a few secrets about the hugely-hyped movie.

“Something major happens that fundamentally changes who Carrie is,” Sarah Jessica Parker told LOGO’s NewNowNext.

Moreover, the film “doesn’t pick up right where the series ended,” Parker adds. “It’s a few years later… it’s so packed with stuff.”

At an Auction

What about Cynthia Nixon and her character, Miranda Hobbes? According to the actress, she “is still in Brooklyn, is still unhappy about it, and still advancing at her job, in her firm.”

Baby Brady?

“Her son is thriving, but her marriage is kind of mmm — not doing so great,” Nixon says. “We are dealing with unfaithfulness, but even more than unfaithfulness, I think we are dealing with the daily grind that can take its toll on a relationship.”

Meanwhile Charlotte York Goldenblatt is “struggling to be a good mother,” Kristin Davis says. “She has her adopted daughter, and she’s an overachiever.”

As for which character has the most sex, Kim Cattrall has a one word answer: “Guess!”

Ummm… Stanford?
