Michelle Trachtenberg Jokes About Seventeen Again

Michelle Trachtenberg Photo We don’t ask for much at Reel Movie News. Typically, our day is made by informing people of the latest movie quotes, rumors and photos.

But can the people behind Zac Efron’s next movie please make up their minds about its title? So far, it’s been known as Seventeen, 17, 17 Again and, now, Seventeen Again. Just stick with a name please.

Now that that’s out of our system, we can report that, Michelle Trachtenberg is having fun on the set of the movie.

Saying she refers to Zac as “Dad” on set - because Efron is, oddly enough, portraying her father - Trachtenberg added:

“Anything we did, father/daughter-wise. I’d tease him, ‘I’m older than you! You’re not really my father,’ while he’s trying to tell me what to do.”

Behind the Scenes of 17 Again

zac-efron-seventeen-again.jpg There are new behind-the-scenes shots of Zac Efron and Michelle Trachtenberg in 17 Again (previously called just Seventeen) that will be featured in the April 2008 issue of teen mag J-14.

Regarding the film, Producer Adam Shankman recently said:

“This is about a man whose life has not gone the way he wants it to, so he wishes he was 17 again and he gets his wish. And then he’s realizing it’s nothing like he thought it would be. So it’s a reverse Big. It has as many funny scenes in it as it does heartfelt scenes.”

17 Again opens in August.

Zac Efron to Dance Again in Seventeen Again

Attention, teenage girls who are crying over the fact that Zac Efron will never dance again after High School 3 is finished being filmed:

Adam Shankman, the producer/director/choreographer of Hairspray, told MTV recently that this young heart throb will be taking to the dance floor in Seventeen Again.

“We have some very funny scenes between him and Leslie Mann from Knocked Up, which are off-the-charts funny,” Shankman said. “But there’s also this big thing with Zac dancing with a lot of cheerleaders that is very, very fun and funny.”

Zac Efron: Excited to Be Seventeen Again

281x211.jpg Zac Efron is excited to be the age of seventeen again in the movie, well, Seventeen Again (formerly called just Seventeen).

In the film, which co-stars Matthew Perry, Efron plays a middle-age man suddenly transported back to his teenage years.

“Everything you do, you have to kind of view it from your dad’s perspective,” Efron said to MTV, revealing how he got in the head of an adult for the role. “I tried to do a few things that I learned from my dad — things that he thinks are cool but are really dorky.

“That seems to be working pretty well,” he laughed.

Portraying the young Mike O’Donnell — who gets his wish for a chance to go back to high school and redo his life — is the perfect way for Efron to transition from tween heartthrob to adult thesp in flicks such as Me and Orson Welles.

This is especially true given that the character offers him a shot at growing up without the side-effects of actually growing up.

“I could have gone out and just played a kid somewhere and had a blast. But now I’m playing a 40-year-old guy,” he said. “It’s kind of fun playing an adult.”

Producers Dish on Zac Efron in Seventeen

Zac EfronProducers Adam Shankman and Jennifer Gibgot know Zac Efron well. Jealous, ladies?

Having become famliar with the High School Musical star from their time on Hairspray, Shankman and Gibgot recently entertained the good people at Comingsoon.net on a set visit to Efron’s latest film, Seventeen.

“While we were doing Hairspray, everyone was aware of what a phenomenon Zac was sort of becoming. [Jennifer] sort of thought I would love to come up with another something for him, and she talked to me about these ideas; she went out to a couple writers, and it was literally pitched to her.

They went out and they sold it with Zac attached, and New Line bought it, and now we’re finishing,” Shankman said.

Of course, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what star-power Zac brings to the big screen, Shankman added. Millions of teenage girls scream upon simply hearing his name.

“He’s really maturing and he’s growing, and he’s so solid in the movie. I’ve seen a bunch of it cut together, and I’m relieved, and I’m so excited to be able to kind of be a part of representing him. I feel like I’ve been in the Zac business for a while, and representing him in a different light outside of the High School triumphant.

And he’s just really good, and he really came alive with all these other actors like Leslie Mann and Thomas Lennon. It’s really funny because Matthew Perry plays him old, and so he had to go to the Matthew Perry School of World Weariness in order to convincingly be this guy. And he does these things that are like Matthew, and it just killed me; he’s a very detailed actor.”

Michelle Trachtenberg, Melora Hardin Join Cast of 17

There’s an unusual amount of news out there for 17, which is really nothing more than a Zac Efron vehicle that will probably have little appeal beyond the teenage girl demographic.

Nevertheless, this is movie news…

Michelle Trachtenberg has signed on for role of the high-school-aged daughter who develops a crush on Efron, not knowing that he’s actually the 17-year-old magical incarnation of her father (played at his real age by Matthew Perry). Follow all that?

Leslie Mann is set to play Perry/Efron’s wife.

Morever, The Office’s Melora Hardin has signed on as the high school principal. She portrays Jan, Michael’s girlfriend and former boss on TV’s funniest show.

Matthew Perry Joins Zac Efron in Seventeen

Because Big and Like Father Like Son aren’t enough, Matthew Perry and Zac Efron have signed on to star in Seventeen, a movie that sounds just like the aforementioned films.

Perry will play the older version of Efron in the upcoming age-switch movie.. The flick will star Perry as a smart ass father who wakes up and finds that he’s back to his 17-year-old self. Sounds familiar?

New Line is boasting that the film “turns the concept of Big on its head,” but we’re not entirely sure how. Anyway, Leslie Mann, the wife of comedic genius Judd Apatow, is will also star in the unoriginal movie.
