"There are really only a few of us that survived," Cox said, but denying rumors that her character, reporter Gale Weathers, and Arquette's Dewey Riley will be offed at the beginning of the fourth installment.

"They're probably back living in Woodsboro," Cox added, "I think that he's probably still deputy, and I've had a lot of kids. I don't know. I'm probably miserable, and then I'm sure a lot of murdering will happen."

Screenwriter Kevin Williamson adds, "there are a lot of twists and turns, so I can't promise anything. There are a lot of moving pieces, so we'll see -- but if you're a 'Scream' fan, I think you're really going to like it."

Back in January, we noted that it was possible that Craven might return to the table for a fourth Scream. After months and months of speculation as to the extent of Craven's involvement, it's been confirmed that he will indeed be sitting in the director's chair for the fourth installment.

Joining him on another scary romp will be Scream veterans Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox, but sources say that those may not be starring roles. Word on the street is that Neve Campbell's part is more of a cameo.

Craven has been busy spinning new horror yarns in the 10 years since Scream 3, most recently hitting the pavement again with My Soul to Take.

Neve Campbell: In for Scream 4

David Arquette and his famous wife were already in.

Now, reports confirm that Neve Campbell - the star of the original Scream horror movies - will reprise her in Scream 4.

Not much is known about the fourth installment in this franchise, thought screenwriter Kevin Williamson is also on board. The only key player remaining from the original set of films is director Wes Craven; he has not ruled out a return yet.

As for Campbell, there's no word yet on whether her character will once again be the focus of the movie, or if she'll actually get killed off quickly in it.

Courteney Cox: Scream 4 Looks "Fantastic"

At the conclusion of Scream 3, Deputy Dewey (David Arquette) proposed to his longtime crush, Gale (Arquette's real-life wife, Courteney Cox).

It looks like Gale said yes, as Cox discussed the fourth installment in this franchise wile promoting her new sitcom, Cougar Town, last week.]

"She has a kid now [and] she's married to Dewey," the actress told Scifiwire.com.

Kevin Williamson Confirms Work on Scream 4

While promoting his new show The Vampire Diaries this week, Kevin Williamson confirmed his work on a fourth installment of Scream.

At the moment, the writer doesn't envision Neve Campbell taking part in Scream 4, but he told IGN:

I've been hired to write it. I'm concentrating on the first twelve episodes of Vampire Diaries, and thank god I have the time, because Courteney [Cox] and David are returning, but Courteney's show [Cougar Town] got picked up. And so we won't get to film until the next hiatus, which is good for me. So I can actually have fun writing it. I'm half way through it.

Williamson also said director Wes Craven won't commit until he sees a script.

In the original horror movie, Arquette portrayed  Deputy Dewey Riley, while Cox served as tabloid television reporter Gale Weathers.

"I fell in love with my wife on Scream, so the opportunity to bring [Dewey] back to life and for my wife to play that really bitchy character again, it's just going to be really fun," Arquette said, adding that he hopes star Neve Campbell changes her mind and joins the film.
