Sam Raimi isn't insane after all. He's just finally managed to pull his head out of his ass.

Recently interviewed in the print edition of DVD & Blu-ray Review, he had this to say about the complaints that there were too many villains in Spider-Man 3: "I think having so many villains detracted from the experience. I would agree with the criticism."

He also went on to say that he has learned some new lessons and storytelling tricks from working on his latest film, Drag Me to Hell.

"I think I've learned about the importance of getting to the point and the importance of having limitations, and I'm hoping to take that into a production where I'm actually allowed to explore with more of the tools to pull it off with a little more splendor. I hope I don't lose that edge that I've just found. That would be my approach to Spider-Man 4: to get back to the basics."

Well, thank god! Raimi has always been one of my favorite filmmakers, and it's because of the ingenuity and vitality of his earlier works. As of late, I had grown really tired of watching him sleep through big-budget drivel like Spider-Man 3. It's like he's been in a coma. A bloated, money-drenched coma. Sounds like Hell did him some good!

Bring on Spider-Man 4! With this new attitude, it could be the Spider-Man film we always wanted to see, but never got...

Raimi confirmed that the story will be an original effort set within the world of the popular role-playing game, not an adaptation of the book "Arthas: Rise of the Lich King", as was previously thought.

"We want to be really faithful to the game," Raimi said. "We would have our writer, Robert Rodat, really craft an original story within that world that feels like a 'World of WarCraft' adventure. Only obviously it's very different 'cause it's expanded and translated into the world of a motion picture."

Raimi is expected to tackle WarCraft once he's finished on Spider-Man 4.

Sam Raimi and Disney Making The Transplants

Sam Raimi is about to do his first Disney flick courtesy The Transplants, an action-adventure from writers Adam Jay Epstein and Andrew Jacobson.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Transplants is a four-quadrant ensemble superhero movie with a comic angle to it.  Since Epstein and Jacobson are best know for their movie, Not Another Teen Movie, we can expect it to be a little over the top.

Raimi, now best known as the Spider-Man director, was recently seen at Comic-Con where he showed well-receive clips of his return to horror, Drag Me to Hell.  Fanboys will also note that at Comic-Con, he also announced he still wants to do Evil Dead 4.

Sam Raimi Wants Evil Dead 4

Sam Raimi may be best known for his directorial role in the Spider-Man movies, but his dedicated Evil Dead fans will never forget where he got his start.

What impressed the director most at Comic Con?  According to MTV Movies, that people still dress up as Ash from Army of Darkness.

When asked if we'll see an Evil Dead 4, the director responded "Yes."  So what are we waiting on?

“If the financing ever fell in place right,” Raimi explained and then further taunting us, “But first, I’d have to work on the script with my brother [Ivan Raimi]. And that’s something I’m hoping to find the time to do.”

Are you guys ready to see Bruce Campbell return to fight the Deadites?

Sam Raimi Speaks on Spider-Man 4, Franchise Future

Director Sam Raimi recently discussed the making of Spider-Man 4 and future franchise sequels.

"James Vanderbilt is writing the script and I'm excited to read it. I think it's going to be done in a few months," Raimi said. "I'm hoping it's as great as our discussions were about it and I'm hoping it feels right for me because I love Spider-Man. I'm hoping I'm well rested enough to embrace it and I'm hoping Sony wants me to do it. If all of those things come together, I would love to do it. There are a lot of unknowns about the future."

As re-casting key actors, if needed? (Rumors have been circulating that Tobey Maguire could be replaced.)

"I'd hate to re-cast anybody in the future, I can't imagine that," Raimi said.
