Russell Crowe and Leonardi DiCaprio Uncover Body of Lies

On October 10, Russell Crowe and Leonardi DiCaprio team up for Body of Lies.

The A-list stars recently sat with MoviesOnline to discuss the thriller. Here are highlights from the interview:

MoviesOnline: A lot of your scenes in this film are you and your cell phone essentially, was that like doing a voice on a cartoon?
Russell Crowe: I don't know. I've never done a voice on a cartoon. It's the same as if you're doing a CGI film and you're supposed to be floating in a flock of black ravens. In fact, most of the time when you're on a film set, what you see in the audience has nothing to do with the experience of the actor. So you've always got to be shutting off things that are going to affect your focus and all that sort of stuff. So it's the same sort of thing where you just zero in on the phone call.

Some guys try to attempt to do that thing of having both people on the phone at the same time which is just utterly a waste of time. It's a waste of time. It's better off that you just do the groove by yourself. And then if you shot it first, the next person gets to hear where you were and they will fold into that, or if you're doing it second, it's the same thing. You listen to what they said and then you have a think about it.

An Earful

MoviesOnline: Were there any stunts that were particularly challenging or painful? Also, you had to learn some Arabic, are you able to remember any of that?
Leonardo DiCaprio: Absolutely none, I can't remember a single word even to tell you the truth. But we had an Arabic coach there that was really helpful, because it was more so than any accent, you have to be so exact and there's different dialects of Arabic from country to country, so it was really, really difficult to tell you the truth. And one of the hardest things I've ever had to do language-wise, because it comes from the throat, it's different, and also learning about the customs and the culture and all that, so we had advisors for that sort of thing.

Dual Roles Ahead for Russell Crowe in Nottingham

During a news conference for their news movie, Body of Lies, Russell Crowe and director Ridley Scott were asked about their next project together, a Robin Hood tale called Nottingham.

Crowe says it's too early to announce a release date for the movie.

"It's one of those things where we're taking our time with. You don't want to be doing Robin Hood unless you're going to be doing it really f*cking well. It's got to be the best one ever done otherwise you should do something else," he said.

Crowe did state that he won't be wearing tights (sorry, ladies), but he will be starring opposite Sienna Miller, presumably as Maid Marian.

The major news, though, would come later on when Scott told MTV's Movie Blog that Crowe would actually be playing two roles in Nottingham: the sheriff himself and Robin Hood.

"He's playing both!" the director said, adding that the role would "a good old clever adjustment of characters. One becomes the other. It changes."

Russell Crowe Rumored to Portray Bill Hicks

Russell Crowe next appears on the big screen alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the thriller Body of Lies.

After that, there had been talk of the actor taking on the role of the Sheriff of Nottingham in the movie Nottingham, but that adaption has been pushed back.

As a result, The Sydney Morning Herald reports that Crowe may next portray comedian Bill Hicks. Here's a snippet of what the Oscar-winner told the newspaper, along with its subsequent report:

"I have another project based on the life of comedian Bill Hicks, which is going from treatment to draft stage with Kiwi writer Mark Staufer," Crowe said.

It is understood he is considering playing the main role of Hicks — a controversial and brilliant American comedian who battled drug and alcohol abuse before dying from cancer at 32.

Crowe confirmed Nottingham would not go ahead until March next year because director Sir Ridley Scott wanted the leaves on the trees in England's Sherwood Forest to be the right colour.

Russell Crowe: In for State of Play

After being linked with the project for the past week, Russell Crowe has agreed to step in for Brad Pitt in the political thriller State of Play.

Pitt dropped out last week over script concerns, hurling the remake of the British miniseries into a state of flux.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Crowe is now in "final negotiations" to star opposite Edward Norton, Helen Mirren, Rachel McAdams, Robin Wright Penn, and Jason Bateman in the film.

The paper reports: "Macdonald spent the weekend in Australia wooing Crowe, who had to see if Play could fit into his schedule; Crowe is scheduled to shoot Universal's Nottingham, the Ridley Scott-directed reimagining of the Robin Hood story."

Crowe "will play a political consultant-turned-journalist who heads a newspaper's murder investigation involving a fast-rising politician (Norton)."
