Fanning Sisters Replaced in My Sister's Keeper

Abigail Breslin will replace Elle Fanning - and Sofia Vassilieva is liklely to replace Dakota Fanning - the upcoming drama My Sister's Keeper.

Variety states Dakota Fanning balked at a request that she shave her head for the role; both sisters withdrew abruptly from the film.

Breslin (Little Miss Sunshine, Definitely, Maybe) will take over the role of a young girl who sues for emancipation from parents who conceived her as a genetic match so she could prolong the life of her ailing older sister. Vassilieva would play the older sister.

Cameron Diaz will portray the mother of the girls and Alec Baldwin the attorney who represents the child.

Alec Baldwin Lands Role in My Sister's Keeper

Alec Baldwin will star alongside Dakota Fanning and Elle Fanning in the movie adaption of Jodi Picoult's My Sister's Keeper.

The 30 Rock star will play the attorney who represents a child (Elle Fanning) after she sues her parents for emancipation. The grounds? They bred her to be a genetic match who could prolong the life of her cancer-ridden sister (Dakota Fanning).

The girl's mother (Cameron Diaz) is a former trial lawyer and represents herself in court.

Elle and Dakota Fanning Set for My Sister's Keeper

Sisters Elle and Dakota Fanning will star with Cameron Diaz in My Sister's Keeper, the Nick Cassavetes-directed adaptation of the Jodi Picoult novel.

Production on the flick begins this March in Los Angeles. No release date has been set yet.

The Fanning Sisters

Elle Fanning will play a young girl who sues for emancipation from her parents because they conceived her as a genetic match with the hope she could prolong her cancer-ridden sister's life, Variety reports.

Jeremy Leven wrote the script, and Mark Johnson will produce. Both teamed with Cassavetes and New Line on The Notebook.

This movie marks the first time that the girls will work in scenes together on a film; both appeared in I Am Sam, but never together.
