Movie Rumors (Page 7)

Molly Ringwald Pushes for Sixteen Candles Sequel

We weren't shocked to hear talk of a Wanted sequel.

But Sixteen Candles 2?!? Can't say we saw that rumor coming.

Star Molly Ringwald is urging writer/director John Hughes to make a sequel of 1984 movie. Indeed, 24 years later, the actress is campaigning for a follow-up to that iconic film, years after Hughes shot the idea down.

"It was something that I definitely wanted to do, but John Hughes wasn't interested, and I didn't feel comfortable doing it without his involvement," Ringwald told AOL Television. "If we can get John to agree, I think it would be great. I think there are definitely a lot of people who would love to see it, and I would love to do it."

We don't actually remember the plot of Sixteen Candles, but Rungwald thinks it "lends itself to (a sequel). It was such a Cinderella story. And I was interested to see what happened to this girl."

Would you see a Sixteen Candles sequel?

Talk of 300 Sequel Heats Up

Collider.com talked to Mark Canton, Gianni Nunnari and Bernie Goldmann - the producers of 300 - earlier this week at 34th Annual Saturn Awards.

The trio made it sound like they were hopeful about a sequel to their blockbuster epic.

"We're looking for another 300 and we're looking for Frank Miller and Zack [Snyder] to do thier thing. We've had obviously, around the world, such an amazing journey," Canton said. "It keeps on going."

Would you see a 300 sequel?

When asked if the movie woud be a prequel Canton replied:

"No. We're talking about the genius of Frank Miller, Zack Snyder and we're talking seriously about something authentic."

Christian Bale, Others Rumored to Join Nottingham

According to Great Britain's The Daily Mail, Christian Bale might be taking on another iconic role.

The actor - already portraying Batman and set to take on John Connor in the next Terminator franchise - is in talks to join Russell Crowe and Sienna Miller and play Robin Hood in director Ridley Scott's Nottingham.

The newspaper reported:

Christian Bale, soon to be seen as the caped crusader in The Dark Knight, is in talks about donning the jolly Lincoln Green outfit of Robin Hood, where he will be part of a menage a trois between Russell Crowe's Sheriff of Nottingham and Sienna Miller's Maid Marian.

Vanessa Redgrave, William Hurt and Saoirse Ronan are also in discussions to join the movie.

Crowe and Bale starred together in last year's 3:10 to Yuma. We'll have more on them possibly teaming up for this vehicle as information comes in.

Nottingham is aiming for a November 6, 2009 release.

Thomas Jane to Play Jonah Hex?

A photo posted by Film School Rejects seems to shows Thomas Jane as the title character in Jonah Hex, a feature film based on the DC Comics western-supernatural title.

Take a look at it now:

Jonah Hex

Thomas Jane is no stranger to the world of comic book characters. He previously portrayed The Punisher.

For those unaware, the comic book adventures of Jonah Hex were infused with supernatural elements. The character is a former Confederate officer whose face was horrifically scarred (as you can see above).

Leonardo DiCaprio Rumored to Play Captain America

As previously reported, Matthew McConaughey was in the running to portray Captain America in the upcoming movie based on that Marvel super hero.

Now, new rumors are coming in - courtesy of Latino Review - that float the possibility of Leonardo DiCaprio in the role of this well-known avenger of justice.

Can you picture the Titantic actor as Captain America?

Aside from DiCaprio, Brad Pitt's name has been floated around to fill the iconic role of Captain America.

An Entourage Movie in the Works?

If the women can do it, so can the men.

Executive Producer Mark Wahlberg was recently asked about the future of Entourage and said:

"We're doing Season 5 right now. We're hoping for maybe three [or] four more seasons, and then maybe a film or two. Obviously the [Sex and the City movie] success has opened up a window of opportunity there."

Would you go see an Entourage movie?

Will James McAvoy Play Bilbo Baggins?

With The Hobbit now confirmed as coming to the big screen, one of the most pressing questions in the movie world is:

Who will play Bilbo Baggins?

According to a source at British newspaper The Daily Express: "A number of names have been doing the rounds, including Daniel Radcliffe and Jack Black, but James MCAvoy is the one the film's bosses really want. They're expected to have talks soon, so hopefully it could be confirmed in the not too distant future."

McAvoy seems like a solid choice, but perhaps we should take this source's information with the proverbial grain of salt. After all: Jack Black is really being considered?!?

Spider-Man 4 Rumors: Tobey Maguire Out?

With Spider-Man 4 and 5 rumored to be filming simultaneously, yet without Tobey Maguire having signed up yet to weave any webs of justice, Latino Review asks:

Might Maguire be out of the franchise? And, if so, who could replace him in the title role?

Here are possibilities the aforementioned publication says it's heard as considerations:

PATRICK FUGIT

MICHAEL  ANGARANO

Neither is a huge name, but neither was Maguire when he first donned the Spider-Man tights. What do you think of these choices for the role?

Robert Downey Jr. Rumored to Play Hugh Hefner

Robert Downey Jr. is seeing his career take off thanks to Iron Man. And, according to the Chicago Sun Times, though, his next film project might be centered around an iron man of a different kind.

Rumors are circulating that the actor may sign on to play Hugh Hefner the Playboy founder's big-screen biopic.

It's not a done deal yet, but sources say Hefner has approved of Downey to play him in the movie, which has the apt working title of Playboy.

There's no word on when the cameras might actually begin rolling on the movie, but it could happen as soon as next summer, depending on Downey's Iron Man 2 filming and the finalization of the Hefner script.

More Spider-Man 4 Release Rumors

Nothing is definitive yet, but it appears that movie viewers could see Spider-Man 4 in theaters within the next three years. However, director Sam Raimi and stars Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst have not officially signed on to the project yet.

According to IESB, Marvel's vice chairman Peter Cuneo told the press during a conference call last week that the future of Spider-Man 4 is "up to Sony" with the most likely release date for the film being in either 2010 or 2011.

Cuneo added that Sony hopes to make Spider-Man 4 "within a reasonable timeframe" and that it "may be looking at some issues with the cast and so on, I think they have to make some decisions."

That's for sure. Would they really film the movie without Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst?
