Movie Rumors (Page 3)

Possibly Coming Soon: The Parsifal Mosaic Movie

According to producer Frank Marshall, the next Jason Bourne adventure might be based on a Robert Ludlum's book that actually does NOT focus on that iconic character.

Here are highlights from an interview Marshall gave to ComingSoon.net:

Q: What's happening with "Bourne" now that you have access to the Robert Ludlum library?
Well, that's the good news. We now have access to all the Ludlum story ideas. We're going to make the fourth movie from them.
Q: And [Matt Damon has] signed on?
No, the only people signed on right now is George Nolfi, the writer, and me. We have to get a good script and then, hopefully, Matt will follow.

The producer proceeded to cite The Parsifal Mosiac as an option for the franchise.

This Ludlum novel is not a Bourne-based story; it deals with a U.S. spy who falls in love with another spy... who is then revealed to be a double agent just before her death.

Men in Black

In 2005, Parkes said he'd be open to a third installment, if only to improve on Men in Black 2.

"There's been some conversations, just recently actually, because I don't think we did the best possible job on the second one. It would be great to pull the franchise back," he said three years ago.

Steven Seagal Teases Fans with Under Siege 3 Rumors

It's been 16 years since audiences were treated to Under Siege 2.

Still, in a recent interview with MTV, Steven Seagal made it sound as though a third installment of this franchise isn't out of the question.

“I wouldn’t mind if it was about something more mystical or…maybe extraterrestrial in nature. Some real government top secrets instead of just the typical," Seagal said.

We're giddy just thinking about the possibility of Under Siege 3. Here's a clip of the interview with Seagal:

Rumors Fly About The Big Lebowski Sequel

If John Turturro can convince the Coen Brothers into making Jesus rise once again, The Big Lebowski sequel seems like a possibility.

Not that any actors that would be involved are taking the rumor too seriously.

“That’s just like a sick thought, isn’t it?” Philip Seymour Hoffman laughed in response when asked by MTV about a sequel revolving around his child-molesting, bowling ball-licking Jesus Quintana. “I love that [Lebowski] has a life now. I had a ball making it."

But what about The Dude's girlfriend?

“I think she has a role in everybody’s universe,” Julianne Moore said. “Maude abides too.... She’s with The Dude somewhere... She had The Dude’s baby, remember? So there’s a mini-Dude out there. [Maybe the movie] is called ‘Mini-Dude’!”

Now there's an idea!

Will the Wachowski Brothers Save Wonder Woman?

According to Leonard Goldberg, a Wonder Woman movie is not dead yet!

The producer, who is working with Joel Silver on the long-gestating project, told MTV that the Wachowski brothers are being considered to write and direct it. This tandem is best known for The Matrix trilogy.

“At one time, Joel [Silver] said they might have an idea. But they got diverted to another project [and] never followed through,” Goldberg said. “There may come a time when they will be focused on ‘Wonder Woman’ and may come up with whatever their take on it was. They’re certainly very talented guys. Their vision for movies — whether they’re successful or not — is always singular.”

Michael Caine Sort of Confirms Batman Villain Rumors

MTV caught up with Michael Caine this week at the Toronto Film Festival.

And the actor that plays Alfred in The Dark Knight gave readers the most confirmation yet that both Johnny Depp and Philip Seymour Hoffman were being considered for the roles of Riddler and Penguin in the next Batman movie.

Riddler

These rumors have been addressed many times, but Caine told MTV that a Warner Bros. executive backed it all up.

"I was with [a Warner Bros.] executive and I said, 'Are we going to make another one?' They said yeah. I said, 'How the hell are we going to top Heath?" Caine recounted "And he says 'I'll tell you how you top Heath - Johnny Depp as The Riddler and Philip Seymour Hoffman as The Penguin.' I said, 'S–t, they've done it again!'"

This doesn't mean Depp and Hoffman have signed any contracts, of course. But it does add fuel to an already exciting fire!

Movie Rumor of the Day: A Live-Action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

As past comic books and cartoons get turned into serious, darker films - The Dark Knight being the obvious example - might Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles actually be next?

Co-creator Kevin Eastman recently confirmed he is in talks to develop a new live-action movie based on the characters. He posted the following at HeavyMetal.com:

Yes, it is true. Although the CGI film did well enough to warrent a sequel, there has been much talk between Imagi and Warners to do a better "re-invention" (newest Hollywood buzzword) of the TMNT's, in a live action film--like what was done with Batman. Back to basics, back to the origin and the intro of the Shredder, etc...there have been talks, trips to Northampton to talk to Mr Laird, and discussions with the original "first" TMNT film director Steve Barron to come back and do it right--but no official word yet...will keep you posted.

The CG-animated TMNT, which was released in March of 2007, earned $95 million worldwide. It was considered a huge success, considering its $34 million budget.
