Movie Rumor of the Day: A Blair Witch Sequel

It's been a decade since movie goers were haunted by The Blair Witch Project.

But it's never too late to resurrect a franchise, apparently, as director Eduardo Sanchez says that he and partner Daniel Myrick are prepared to pitch a new version of the iconic movie to the studio.

The Blair Witch Project

"Our original idea for Blair Witch was to go through all of the periods of the mythology... and make a movie about them," said Sanchez. "And we wanted to start at the beginning and do the story of Elly Kedward, the original [person]... The Blair Witch is named after her."

No other details were revealed, but Sanchez did say the another installment would be a prequel to the original story.

Dakota Fanning to Star in The Wizard of Oz Sequel?!?

Dakota Fanning as the vampire Jane in New Moon? Awesome idea.

Dakota Fanning as Dorothy’s granddaughter in a sequel to The Wizard of Oz? Possibly the worst idea in cinematic history.

According to British newspaper Express, the young actress really is being considered for the starring role in an upcoming sequel to The Wizard of Oz, one that sources say would be "darker and more action-packed" than the 1939 original.

Said Todd McFarlane: "You’ve still got Dorothy trapped in an odd place, but she’s much closer to the Ripley character from Alien [Sigourney Weaver] than a helpless singing girl.”

Really? A sequel to one of the most iconic movies of all-time? That's just wrong.

Movie Rumor of the Day: A Mr. and Mrs. Smith Sequel

As we report the following movie rumor, a bit of advice: consider the source.

According to trashy tabloid The National Enquirer, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are planning a sequel to Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

The original movie, of course, was both an entertaining thrill ride and a source for non-stop celebrity gossip attention; it's the origin of the Pitt and Jolie love story.

Reportedly,  the couple is friends with the original film's writer and have asked him to pen a new installment. A source said it would be a "family affair." Whatever that means.

Movie Rumor of the Day: George Clooney as Jack Ryan

Having finally exhausted the Ocean's 11 franchise, word around Hollywood is that George Clooney might be interested in following in Harrison Ford and Ben Affleck's shoes.

The actor often takes on at least one commercial vehicle in exchange for anchoring smaller, more personal projects.

As first reported by The Daily Beast, this career path may lead him into the Tom Clancy-create role of Jack Ryan. The website reports:

A source says [Clooney] expressed interest in playing Jack Ryan when and if Paramount attempts to revive the Tom Clancy series. Clooney seems to recognize that at this time in the world and this time in his life (he's pushing 50), it's time for some commercial maintenance.

T.J. Hooker Movie: Coming to the Big Screen?

Hollywood appears to have a thing for William Shatner characters these days.

First, of course, there was the Star Trek remake.

Now, Variety reports that plans are in the works to make Shatner's career-making TV show, T.J. Hooker, into a movie.

T.J. Hooker

Chuck Russell (The Mask) is in negotiations to direct the feature, which would be an action comedy that centers on the relationship between the titular cop and his father.

Shatner (to his great displeasure) did not appear in Star Trek. No word yet on whether or not he'd star in the T.J. Hooker movie.

Movie Producer Confirms Talk of Indiana Jones V

Shia LaBeouf pretty much confirmed it earlier in the week, and now a man behind the scenes is also openly talking about the possibility of a fifth Indiana Jones movie.

Speaking to Empire magazine, producer Frank Marshall said that "ideas would be worked on with a view to green-lighting production sooner rather than later."

"It's really about the script," said Marshall, who has produced all four movies in the franchise. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!"

Jackpot!

As for Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, and Harrison Ford, Marshall left no doubt that are all up for another outing with the iconic character.

"We had a great time making the last one and, as Harrison said, we need to make this one soon. We're not getting any younger."

Would you see another Indiana Jones movie?
