G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra Movie Preview, Super Bowl Spot

The buzz for G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra has officially begun.

Later today, during Super Bowl XLIII, viewers will be treated to the first preview for the big screen adaption of this beloved cartoon.

We've got an early look at it below:

A Light-Hearted Look at December Movies

A friend of the Reel Movie News staff recently sent in this light-hearted look ahead at the holiday movie season.

So get out your calendars and plan accordingly...

December 5
Cadillac Records: Based on Etta James and Chuck Berry. Prepare to hear your father's standard complaint about biopics made about people who were alive at the same time as he.
The Punisher: War Zone: Be one of three people in the country to see how Frank Castle seeks revenge!
Frost/Nixon: A movie based on a play based on tapes of an interview. Sounds thrilling/not.

December 12
Doubt: Might open molested-related wounds for some movie goers.
The Reader: Ralph Fiennes. Kate Winslet. No wonder people hate reading.
The Day The Earth Stood Still: Keanu Reeves plays a cop who has to stop the Earth from revolving on its axis or else mad bomber Dennis Hopper will ignite a charge he has hidden in the planet's core
Wendy and Lucy: Michelle Williams loses her dog. First Heath, now this pooch. When will her nightmare end?)

December 19
Seven Pounds: Please give Will Smith an Oscar already so he can stop re-making the same crappy film and get back to making awesome summer blockbusters and parent-friendly rap music.
Gran Torino: Clint Eastwood is a Korean War vet who wants to clean up his gang-ridden neighborhood. At least, that's the plot of the movie-within-the-movie. The overall plot is a biopic about an actor/director who keeps making war movies about 20 years too late.
The Brothers Bloom: Adrian Brody and Mark Ruffalo star as two brothers who somehow become actors despite lacking any likability whatsoever.
Yes Man: Families have had holiday success with Jim Carrey before!

December 26
The Spirit: I've not had it with these motherf-ckin' comic books being turned into motherf-ckin' awesome movies!
Revolutionary Road: Leo DiCap, L'il Katie Winslet. A reunion of Titanic proportions.
Valkyrie: Tom Cruise plays the only German in Hitler's army without an accent. Shouldn't that have made it obvious to Hitler that the guy was trying to kill him? I wonder how many positive thetons it takes to make this enjoyable.
Marley & Me: Failed suicide attempt? Owen Wilson is so brave. Public cuckholdery? Jennifer Aniston is so brave. Going to see this? We are so brave.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Awesome alliteration. Brad Pitt ages in reverse in an attempt to get back to a time when Angelina Jolie was hot and likeable.

The Reel Movie News Fall Preview

The summer movie season is coming to a close. Unless you consider Hamlet 2 or The House Bunny to be blockbusters at the box office, the major popcorn flicks have come and gone.

With that in mind, it's time to turn our attention to the fall, the season in which Oscar contenders typically emerge. Here's a look at some of the movies we're most looking forward to over the next few months...

Chad Feldheimer

Brad Pitt is a gym employee in Burn After Reading.

Body of Lies Pic

Leonardo DiCaprio and Russell Crowe tell a Body of Lies.

Movie Preview: Paranoid Park

Gus Van Sant is certainly known to direct interesting fare.

Good Will Hunting and Elephant come to mind.

Now, the latest movie helmed by this director is called Paranoid Park. It's been nominated for Best Feature and Van Sant for Best Director at this year's Independent Spirit Awards.

Paranoid Park, like the aforementioned flicks, focuses on troubled teenagers. There's a mystery involving  two kids: one dies on train tracks, while the other - a skater boy - struggles with his role in the death.

The movie has already screened at a variety of film festivals, and will open in limited release March 7.

A Preview of Drillbit Taylor

Judd Apatow and Seth Rogen have another movie coming out. It's called Drillbit Taylor, it hits theaters in the spring of 2008 and it stars Owen Wilson.

We assume this is enough to inspire anyone to watch, but here's a preview of the comedy anyway:

Ryan, Wade and Emmit attend their first day at high school and they're pumped ... until they meet up with Filkins, a school bully who comes off like a little Hannibal Lecter. Before they become completely engulfed in Filkins' reign of terror, they seek out some protection by placing an ad in soldier of fortune magazine.

Drillbit Taylor

Their best response - and the cheapest - comes from Drillbit Taylor (Wilson), a down-on-his luck soldier of fortune who lives a homeless - he likes to say "home free" - existence on the beach. He enrolls them in some physical and mental training.

No Country for Old Men: The Preview

Here's a look at the highly anticipated movie, No Country for Old Men:

A Preview of Sweeney Todd

Johnny Depp is putting down his captain's hat and picking up a pair of (lethal) scissors for Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, the big screen adaption of the award-winning play.

Here's a preview of the unique film, a combination of horror and musical:
