Arrested Development Cast to Reunite for Sit Down, Shut Up

We’re still not sure if there will be an Arrested Development movie (although we pray for it every night before bed), but three of the sitcom’s main characters will be coming together for a different film.

Mitch Hurwitz has recruited Jason Bateman, Will Arnett and Henry Winkler to voice roles in his animated Fox comedy Sit Down, Shut Up, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie centers on staff members at a high school who are preoccupied with their own needs and agendas, which means the students come second.

Cheri Oteri, Will Forte, Regina King, Nick Kroll, Tom Kenny and Maria Bamford will also voice characters in the flick.

Johnny 5: Still Alive

shortcircuit.jpg We weren’t shocked to hear about X Files 2, or even the possibility of a fourth Jason Bourne movie.

But a sequel to the 1986 comedy, Short Circuit? Can’t say we saw that one coming.

The original focused on Number 5, a robot built by the military to be a highly sophisticated weapon. It developed a conscience and a personality after being hit by lightning, and then needed the help of humans after it was targeted for destruction by its makers.

According to Variety, S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock have been hired to write the remake.

There’s no word yet on whether any of the original film’s cast - Steve Guttenberg, Ally Sheedy or Fisher Stevenson - will return for the follow-up.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Soup host Joel McHale (who we adore), Scott Bakula and others are set to star opposite Matt Damon in the film.

Bakula and McHale, who is in final negotiations, will play FBI agents working with agri-business insider Mark Whitacre (Damon) to stop a price-fixing scam. The film is based on Kurt Eichenwald’s 2000 best-seller “The Informant: A True Story.”

The Informant is due out in 2009.

Sam Rami Takes on Jack Ryan

51vhgh7at6l_aa240_.jpg Looks like Spider-Man director Sam Raimi is hooking up with Paramount Pictures to bring Tom Clancy hero Jack Ryan back to the big screen.

According to Variety, Rami will develop and direct a series of new movies centering on the CIA analyst character that was played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, and Ben Affleck over the course of four films from 1990 to 2002.

Variety adds that the studio may opt to set the film in the present day, with a global threat triggering the action. This would seem to indicate that the movie won’t be based on an existing Clancy novel. Now, let us know:

Who do you think should take over the role of Jack Ryan?
