Friel - who stars in the adorable ABC series Pushing Daisies - will play the love interest of Ferrell, a disgraced paleontologist who finds himself in a strange prehistoric world.

Lisa Kudrow and David Bowie Sign on for Will

Already teeming with young stars - such as Vanessa Hudgens and Scott Porter - the musical coming-of-age dramedy Will is receiving a dose of veteran actors, as well.

Lisa Kudrow and David Bowie have signed on for the film, which focuses on a high school outcast (Liam Aiken from Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events) and a popular girl (Hudgens) who form an unlikely bond through a love of music. They put together a group to perform at their school's battle of the bands competition.

Kudrow will play Will's mother. No word on Bowie's role yet.

Julia Roberts to Star in Hothouse Flowers

Julia Roberts, who most recently appeared on the big screen opposite Tom Hanks and Philip Seymour Hoffman in Charlie Wilson's War, has chosen a new project.

The actress will produce and star in a film version of Margot Berwin's upcoming novel Hothouse Flowers for Sony's Columbia Pictures.

The book - and planned movie - tells the story of a newly divorced woman who is dissatisfied with her job at a Manhattan ad agency and heads off on an adventure. Roberts, naturally, will play the divorcee. No release date has been set.

Laurence Fishburne, Milo Ventimiglia, Others Sign up for Armored

Laurence Fishburne has a star-studded cast for the action feature Armored.

The veteran actor joins Matt Dillon, Columbus Short, Fred Ward, and Skeet Ulrich in the film, which Nimrod Antal will direct.

Jean Reno (The Da Vinci Code, Ronin) and Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes) have also signed on to the movie, which is about on a young armored car guard who is persuaded by his veteran cohorts to empty a truck of its $10 million cargo.

Shooting is already underway in Los Angeles.

Jessica Alba Dishes on Sin City 2, Fantastic Four 3

As she awaits the opening of her new movie, The Eye, newly knocked up actress Jessica Alba spoke to Comingsoon.net about the prospects of sequels to a pair of well-received movies she's starred in...

CS: What can you tell us about your character in "Sin City 2"?
Jessica Alba: I haven't read a script. I don't know anything about it. Robert (Rodriguez) and Frank (Miller) haven't talked to me about it at all.

CS: How long until we get "Fantastic Four 3"?
Alba: I have no idea. I know the writers strike and the impending actors strike has kind of put a wrench in everything production wise. That film takes a lot of prep, a good six months of prep and about six months to shoot. With the strike, I think, maybe it's put on hold.Read the full interview with Alba now.

Hayden Panettiere to Star in I Love You, Beth Cooper

hayden-panettiere-i-love-you-beth-cooper.jpg Thanks to the writers' strike, Heroes star Hayden Panettiere has a lot of free time on her hands.

And she's using it to star in a couple new films. The latest is called I Love You, Beth Cooper.

The 18-year-old actress will appear at the title character in teen comedy, which will be produced by Chris Columbus (Rent, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets).

As Beth Cooper, Panettiere is a hot cheerleader (typecasting!) that is the object of a nerdy valedictorian's obsession. The pair embark on a series of misadventures after he proclaims his love for her in his graduation speech.

Later this year, Hayden will appear in the drama Fireflies in the Garden alongside Julia Roberts.

Hitting The Road: Viggo Mortensen and Charlize Theron

Academy Award nominee Viggo Mortensen and Academy Award winner Charlize Theron have signed on for a movie version of the 2006 novel The Road.

The tome, by No Country for Old Men writer Cormac McCarthy, revolves around a man (Mortensen) who embarks on a nightmarish road trip after a nuclear explosion in an attempt to transport his son to safety while fending off hungry cannibals.

Reportedly, Theron will play the wife of Mortensen's character, appearing mostly in flashback scenes. The actress, who won multiple awards for her role in Monster, agreed to play such a small role because she was a huge fan of the book.

Atonement, Sweeney Todd Lead Golden Globe Winners List

The awarding of the Golden Globes may have been anticlimactic this year - the ongoing writers' strike caused the ceremony to be canceled, resulting in an awkward, boring press conference that announced the winners - but it's still worth noting the films and actors that were honored.

Leading the way and building their resumes for an Oscar? Atonement and Sweeney Todd. Here's the list of honorees:
