No Current Plans for Simpsons Movie Sequel

Earlier today at the Television Critics Association press tour, The Simpsons creator Matt Groening was asked for confirmation that a follow-up to The Simpsons Movie was planned.

Groening acknowledged that the first film "took four years" and was a lot of work. As for doing another movie, Groening said: "It's going to be awhile," but added that he "get to it, I'm sure."

However, Groening say there are "no plans at the moment."

Quentin Tarantino Reades Inglorious Basterds

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Quentin Tarantino is once more going into battle with the Weinstein Co. as he prepares his new screenplay Inglorious Bastards for an October shoot.

The Kill Bill writer-director is reteaming with Harvey and Bob Weinstein for his long-planned World War II action tale about a "Dirty Dozen"-like group of soldiers behind enemy lines.

Because the production will film in Europe and is looking toward an accelerated production schedule so that it can be finished in time to submit to May's Festival de Cannes, the Weinsteins are looking to join forces with a major studio to come aboard to co-finance in exchange for foreign rights.

We'll have more information on this movie as it breaks, including casting news. Brad Pitt's name has surfaced as a possible star.

Mark Millar Has Big Plans for Next Superman Sequel

Mark Millar, the comic book writer behind Wanted, held nothing back in a recent interview with The UK's Daily Record.

He wasn't a fan of Superman Returns, but has extremely high hopes for the next film in the franchise.

"Since I was a kid I've always wanted to reinvent Superman for the 21st century," said Millar. "I've been planning this my entire life. I've got my director and producer set up, and it'll be 2011. This is how far ahead you have to think.

The Superman brand is toxic after that last movie lost [a good chunk of change], but in 2011 we're hoping to restart it. Sadly I can't say who the director is, but we may make it official by Christmas."

Who would you wanna see direct the next Superman movie?

Resident Evil 4 Planned

Director Paul W.S. Anderson told MTV News that Resident Evil: Extinction likely will not be his last in the big screen adaption of this franchise.

"I'm just starting to talk to Sony about [Resident Evil 4]," Anderson said. "I don't even know if anything will come of it, but there's a possibility it might happen."

A fourth film would seem like a sure thing given the ending of the third, which saw Alice (Milla Jovovich) beside herself with rage, promising to travel to the Umbrella Corporation's headquarters in Japan.

However, Anderson, who write the first three films, says a concrete story hasn't yet been decided upon. He's still trying to determine a plausible direction for a fourth installment.

"I love the Resident Evil franchise and we always try to make the best possible movie we can. If we could find a good Resident Evil 4 to make, then we would do it," he said. "But I wouldn't just do it for the sake of it, that's for sure."

Now, MTV News has announced the pair of major stars that has signed on for the film.

Pierce Brosnan and Nicolas Cage will portray the British Prime Minister Adam Lang and the unnamed ghostwriter, respectively. Brosnan himself said so.
