Keanu Reeves, who is starring in this month's The Day the Earth Stood Still, has signed on to play the lead in 47 Ronin, an epic period movie based on the true tale of a band of samurai swordsmen who avenged the death of their master in 18th century Japan.
In adventure, the actor will play one of the swordsmen; the group and their master are admired in Japan for their revenge attack on Dec. 14, 1702.

Whoa.
Keanu Reeves turns 44 today.
The actor known for turning the word above into a catchphrase (in Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure), as well as for his role as Neo in The Matrix franchise, has never been considered one of the top actors of his generation.
Still, give Reeves credit for understanding his role in Hollywood and focusing on entertaining movies. Here are a few examples of those:

However, as Keanu Reeves told MTV recently, Bill S. Preston Esq. and Ted "Theodore" Logan may be making their most non-heinous journey yet: back to the big screen!
"I hear they're doing a remake," Reeves said of the movie that launched his carer. "[Alex Winter and I spoke] on the phone the other day [about it]. We're great friends."
Would Reeves be up for another sequel?
"The most serious we ever got was a few years ago," the actor confessed of a hitherto unknown third film. "I had once mentioned about doing it when we were 40. Now maybe the only shot we have is to do it when we're 50."
