Justice League: Mortal News

Interview with New Batman, Armie Hammer

Armie HammerE! Online recently sat down with Armie Hammer, the man who's going to play Batman in the new Justice League movie.  Competing against Christian Bale's caped crusader will be no easy task.

Just what does Hammer think of Bale's Batman?  According to Hammer, "That guy's got his s--t down."

How differently will Hammer play Batman?  Well for starters, "My codpiece is bigger."

Joking aside, E! Online tries to get the skinny on whether this troubled production is actually being made.  During initial filming in Australia, the actor had to go through some intense training.  According to Hammer, "I would spend hours training with actual guns to prepare me for this stuff.  It was very intense. Our workout regimens were so rigorous that most of us would vomit.".

Wait... training with real guns?  That better be the bad guys with guns and not Bruce Wayne!

Head on over to E! Online for the full interview.

Justice League of America Update: Megan Gale Praised, Production to Resume

In Australia's Herald Sun, Justice League of America director George Miller says production on the anticipated, albeit troubled, movie will resume in 2009.

He also has nothing but praise for actress Megan Gale, saying she "blitzed her opposition" when she read for the part of Wonder Woman.

"I had no idea she was so good," Miller said. "She walked into our office in Sydney and read the part. She has done some Italian movies, but I didn't think she would be as good as she was.

"But once she read we all looked around at each other and said, 'Well, there's no question.'"

Adam Brody Shares Justice League Experience

Adam Brody, who costars alongside Megan Fox and Amanda Seyfried in Jennifer's Body - recently talked with IGN about his extended preproduction process on Justice League of America.

Before the film was eventually shelved, that is.

"It was an interesting process," Brody said during an interview for his new film. "It was such a fun time, and I went to Australia for a month and that was great."

Brody signed on to Justice League to play The Flash for director George Miller (Happy Feet). He admitted that he didn't even know the status of the project, but added that the production was surprisingly unrestrained in terms of revealing details about the characters and script.

"I don't know what's going on with it. Do you?" he joked. "That was an interesting process, and I was always â€" I always felt so excited, like 'I got the part! Now they're going to take me to the secret bunker in Warner Brothers and debrief us, so nobody can talk about [anything]. It's going to be so official.'

But it sort of wasn't, and it didn't feel official, like stuff leaked out, and we're doing stuff like this but we're not supposed to talk about what's going on."

Jay Baruchel Cast as Villain in Justice League of America?

Here's an interesting casting rumor:

Knocked Up co-star Jay Baruchel is in the running to play the villain in the hugely-hyped live-action Justice League of America movie.

Jay Baruchel

There's no word on which villain role Baruchel might play, but Maxwell Lord is reportedly the central villain of the story, which is said to borrow heavily from DC Comics' build-up to its "Infinite Crisis" storyline.

Can you picture Baruchel in that role?

Justice League of America Casting News

Have a few roles been cast for the upcoming Justice League of America movie?

According to both Ain't It Cool News and IESB.net, Adam Brody (The O.C.), Common (American Gangster), Teresa Palmer (pictured, Wolf Creek) and Scott Porter (Friday Night Lights) have won roles in the film.

Brody is said to be playing Wally West, a.k.a. The Flash, opposite Common as John Stewart, the Green Lantern.

Teresa Palmer

IESB says that, contrary to earlier reports, Palmer is not going to play Wonder Woman- but instead one of the film's villains, Talia Al Ghul. Talia is the daughter of Ra's Al Ghul, portrayed by Liam Neeson in Batman Begins.

Talan Torriero: I Wanna Play Aquaman

Former Laguna Beach star Talan Torriero - who currently stars in the film Driftwood - wants to portray Aquaman in the upcoming film Justice League of America.

talan-torriero-aquaman.jpg Here are some snippets from Torriero's interview with MTV Movies:

Q: By the way, your dream role surprised me. Most people pick a superhero.
A: You know what I really am pushing for? I really want to be Aquaman in Justice League... It's a superhero movie, so it's probably hard to even get in there, but I really want it badly. I really want to be Aquaman so badly.

Q: Wait, what? Nobody wants to be Aquaman. He's ridiculous. Don't be silly.
A: Well I'm a pretty realistic person. People say, ‘If you could be anyone you want right now, who would you be?' I could sit here and say, ‘Oh, Johnny Depp or Jack Nicholson,' but is it realistic for me to say that right now? No. But I could be Ryan Reynolds or Paul Walker right now. I love Ryan Reynolds' career, I really look up to him a lot.

Q: Word on the street is that you want to be Zac Efron, as well.
A: I auditioned for Link in Hairspray [on Broadway], yeah.

Auditions for Justice League of America began last month. Among the major names that tried out were:

Adam Brody ("The O.C."), Joseph Cross ("Running With Scissors"), D.J. Cotrona ("Windfall"), Mary Elizabeth Winstead ("Grindhouse"), Michael Angarano ("Sky High"), Teresa Palmer ("Wolf Creek"), Max Thieriot ("Jumper"), rapper Common and "Friday Night Lights" stars Minka Kelly, Adrianne Palicki and Scott Porter.

Columbus Short Turns Down Role in Justice League of America

Columbus Short told MTV he turned down the opportunity to portray The Green Lantern in the movie version of Justice League of America.

"I was up for that," the choreographer-turned-Stomp the Yard star said.

The actor joins a long list of auditioners, including T.I., Common and Tyrese Gibson, all of whom have been considered to slip on the most powerful ring in all of the comic book universe.

"Justice League is going to be dope, it's going to be huge," said Short adding: "But it's not the movie for me."

Columbus Short

In the end,, Short said that he ultimately decided the script was too much popcorn for his taste

"I think there comes a point in an actor's career when he decides what type of actor you want to be," explained the 25-year-old, who appears in This Christmas next month alongside Chris Brown. "[Each actor] decides: I want to do commercial movies, but do I want to go this way? Or do I want to go that way?"

That doesn't bode too well for Justice League of America. Columbus Short thinks the script isn't heavy enough?!?
