Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Banks are George, Laura Bush

Josh Brolin and Elizabeth Banks grace the cover of the most recent Entertainment Weekly. But you’d be forgiven if you looked at the issue and thought the First Couple was actually featured in it.

Indeed, the two actors starred in Oliver Stone’s movie about President George W. Bush, W, look eerily like their real-life counterparts.

The biopic will chronicle the life and presidency of the words President of the United States in this country’s history. Bush is reportedly portrayed in the film as a foul-mouthed, reformed drunk obsessed with baseball, Saddam Hussein and the conflicted relationship with his dad.

Here’s the rest of the cast:

  • Thandie Newton as Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice;
  • Ioan Gruffudd as Tony Blair;
  • Rob Corddry as Ari Fleischer;
  • James Cromwell as George Herbert Walker Bush;
  • Ellen Burstyn as Barbara Bush;
  • Jeffrey Wright as General Colin Powell.

Josh Brolin to Star in Oliver Stone’s President Bush Biopic

This ought to be the easiest role of Josh Brolin’s career.

All the No Country for Old Men star has to do is smile condescendingly a lot, make up nicknames for his poorly chosen government employees and set the bar as low as possible for all future presidents.

In other words: Brolin will be portraying President George W. Bush in an upcoming biopic from Oliver Stone, tentatively titled Bush.

Will Josh Brolin make a convincing President Bush?

The controversial director recently spoke to Variety about the project:

“It’s a behind-the-scenes approach, similar to Nixon, to give a sense of what it’s like to be in his skin,” Stone said. “But if Nixon was a symphony, this is more like a chamber piece, and not as dark in tone. People have turned my political ideas into a cliche, but that is superficial.

I’m a dramatist who is interested in people, and I have empathy for Bush as a human being, much the same as I did for Castro, Nixon, Jim Morrison, Jim Garrison and Alexander the Great.”

Josh Brolin Loves Ending to No Country for Old Men

How did you feel about the ending to No Country for Old Men?

Some fans were disappointed at the somewhat anticlimactic way the film came to a close - but star Josh Brolin isn’t one of them.

“I love that people are talking about this movie. I love that people leave the movie saying, ‘I hate the ending. I was so pissed.’ Good, it was supposed to piss you off,” the 39-year-old star told MTV News. “You completely lend yourself to [my] character and then you’re completely raped of this character.

I don’t find it manipulative at all. I find it to be a great homage to that kind of violence.”

Brolin went on to challenge those that disagreed with his viewpoint.

“You wanted to see his death, why? Because you’re used to it. Aren’t you so pleased to see a different take on the same cat and mouse game?” he asked. “I would think that you are happy and it seems that you are happy because you’re pissed off and you have something to talk about all day.”

Josh Brolin On: Goonies 2, Milk

Josh Brolin PictureJosh Brolin is a wanted man these days. Following his turn in No Country for Old Men, the actor is entertaining numerous offers.

There’s one movie, however, he hopes never comes across his table.

“Why do people want there to be a Goonies sequel?” asks the actor, reasonably. “There’s two ways it could go – to me, it’d be interesting to see a sequel because it’s been so long, 23 years or something. So now, you’d have me, a 40-year-old guy whose probably drinking now, chain-smoking… I don’t fuckin’ know (Laughs).

But to me, the whole idea of going from “I love The Goonies, which is a classic” to “I love The Goonies, what a classic, but did you see the new one?” ….You know what I mean?”

Brolin is signed on, however, for Milk. He’ll star alongside Sean Penn.

“Yeah. I’m really happy about that. I’ve had a lot of scripts come across that are edible, and I’ve been reading them all, and I read Milk and I think Sean [Penn], who I’ve known for a while, kinda lobbied for me to do it. I think Matt Damon was supposed to do it, but he left. I read it and I just loved it man. There was no question.

A lot of the scripts you read you’re asking yourself ‘is this really going to come together? Will they change some of the dialogue?’… This script is just perfect. It’s an amazing story that should be told. It’s Sean, it’s Gus Van Sant, and it’s Emile Hirsch – who I love – so it’s all good. But I’m basically doing it for free – these great roles, I don’t get paid shit. I don’t know why.”

Josh Brolin Speaks on No Country for Old Men

Josh Brolin is on fire right about now. The actor appears in two Oscar-caliber movies: American Gangster and No Country for Old Men.

Below, he talks about the latter with Movie Web

No Country for Old Men Photo We’ve always been a huge fan of the Coen Brothers, but this No Country for Old Men really seems to be their return to the spotlight. What was the experience like working with them?
Josh Brolin: It was amazing. They’re just people that I’ve always wanted to work with for the longest time. I never thought that I’d get to work with them as a lead character. They’re very easy, very trusting in the process. Not a lot a strife and misunderstanding going on.

Javier Bardem is quite a presence as your pursuer, Anton Chigurh. What was the dynamic like with him on the set?
Josh Brolin: Javier is one of the sweetest, most unbelievably gracious guys I’ve ever met in my life. Listen man, we made fun of each other on the set, we tried to break each other up constantly (laughs) and it just made it that much more fun, but it made the focus more intense when we had to do what we were doing.

It was wonderful working with him, and I would work with him again and again. I think we both feel that same way. I think we could probably do a comedy now. We can’t seem to hang out with each other without trying to break the other one up.

The tension, and all of that kind of stuff, I think that was more in the beginning of the movie, when we were still searching for our character and really wanting to find that hook for either one of us, in order to do justice to the part.

After awhile, you find that hook and you start to be more comfortable with it. I mean, really, our only worry, after a certain point, was just to keep our imaginations active, and the best way to do that is to f-ck with your compadre as much as possible.
