Jake Gyllenhaal and Jim Carrey will star in a big screen version of Damn Yankees. Yes, they will sing; and, yes, they will dance.

The movie will be a contemporary version of the 1955 musical. In it, Joe Boyd is a happily married man that suffers from a lifelong devotion to a losing baseball team.

One night, the Devil (Carrey), who convinces Joe to sell his soul and become Joe Hardy, an all-star slugger. Boyd can escape the deal, as long as he does it before the World Series. 

Jim Carrey may star in the movie Yes Man, but does that movie's mantra reflect the actor's real-life attitude?

He was asked that in a new interview with MoviesOnline:

When you look back at your own life, have you been mostly a yes man or a no man over the years?
I would say yes, even when I say no (laughter), because sometimes saying no is saying yes to your own self worth.  You know what I'm saying?  (laughter)  I like to enjoy life, I like to engage in life, so I would say I'm a yes man.  I said yes to so many things, from a sex change to gastric by-pass surgery (laughter), so it's always paid off for me.  (laughter)  I've kept the weight off.  (laughter) I have, I work hard at it.

You're a very positive guy, was it hard to make fun of a philosophy you personally subscribe to?  You believe in the power of positive thinking.
Yeah, no, everything can be made fun of.  The most serious things are ripe for making fun of them. I have spiritual beliefs that I could literally go out and make an entire comedy routine about, and tour as some sort of spiritual guru, but it kind of goes against that [as] I actually believe the things, so I'm always kind of caught in the middle.

Amazingly enough, this isn't a sequel to The Birdcage.

It's actually Jim Carrey and Rodrigo Santoro (not pictured) shooting scenes for I Love You Phillip Morris.

The movie is based on a novel about a married father who gets sentenced to three years in prison. He ends up falling in love with his cellmate, played by Ewan McGregor. When his cellmate gets released, Jim's character escapes from prison three times in order to be with him.

Naturally.

Keep this movie title in your mind: Pierre Pierre.

The comedy will unite Juno director Jason Reitman with Jim Carrey, a pairing we're certainly excited to see in action.

According to Variety, the "politically incorrect" story revolves around a self-indulgent French nihilist (Carrey) who transports a stolen painting from Paris to London.

Reitmen is currently on production duties for Juno-scribe Diablo Cody's latest project Jennifer's Body, starring mega-hottie Megan Fox. Carrey next stars in Yes Man.

Yes Man looks to be a return to the comedic roots of Jim Carrey.

The movie even sound eerily similar to Liar, Liar, during which Carrey's character could not tell a lie. In Yes Man, he must respond with the word "yes" at all times.

Praise the movie gods! Jim Carrey is going back to comedy!

David Heyman, producer of Harry Potter: Order of the Phoenix, confirmed this week that's he's collaborating on a film with the former Ace Ventura.

"I've got this film with Jim Carrey called Yes Man, which I hope will get into production in the fall," Heyman told MTV News.

After the disaster that was Carrey's thriller The Number 23, Yes Man â€" based on a book by Danny Wallace â€" will return the actor to the high-concept comedy realm that served him well in Liar, Liar and Bruce Almighty.

"It's about a man who finds himself very depressed, and is always saying no. When friends ask him out, he always says no," Heyman said of the script. "[The film will explore] what happens when he decides to say yes to every thing that comes his way."

When asked what the tone of the movie would be, Heyman insisted it would be old-school Carrey. Thank goodness.

"It's really funny," he said. "It's one of the funniest scripts I've read."
