Soldier: Is it cool if I get a picture with you?
Tony Stark: Yes. Yes it's very cool. I don't wanna see this on your myspace page. No gang signs please. No, throw it up, I'm kidding.

Tony Stark: They say the best weapon is one you never have to fire. I prefer the weapon you only need to fire once. That's how dad did it, that's how America does it, and it's worked out pretty well so far.

Jon Favreau Dishes on Iron Man

Jon Favreau recently spoken to Rotten Tomatoes about this summer's blockbuster, Iron Man. Here's an excerpt:

What can the audience expect? What can fans expect?
Jon Favreau: For this thing to work -- when I mean work, I mean to make sense for Marvel, to me, to the movie business -- it has to attract people who don't know anything about the film or about the character. And so, we walk everybody through everything that happens. We don't assume any reality because it's in books.

I think we also limit things a little bit, and make them a little bit more plausible in this chapter so that people will get it and don't feel like, "Oh, it's just a comic book movie, anything can happen."

Also, we have a cast that's a little bit more broadly appealing, so that people might give us a chance who wouldn't normally come to a Marvel film. But for the fans, we wanted to have enough stuff happening in there that it seems like we were either staying true to [the character] or making a choice to go against what their expectations might be based on.

We always said, "Here's a suit. How can we tip a hat to the suit [and also make it something new]?" Or, in the books [Stark] was in Vietnam. "Let's make it Afghanistan now. That seems consistent as an adaptation."

Jon Favreau is an Iron Man

Different Iron Man PosterIn a recent interview, director Jon Favreau opened up about the upcoming Iron Man movie. Sort of.

Favreau does hint that an Iron Man commercial will air during the Super Bowl, but he's mum on most other rumors/spoilers. Here are a pair of excerpts from the conversation:

MTV: Where are you on Iron Man today?
Favreau: There's a lot of effects work that's going to be happening in the next six months. The movie is pretty much going to be everything that it's going to be by the end of January. Because so much of it is animated and CGI you have to turn it over and let those people do their work on it. So we'll be done in about a month with all the big creative decisions. And then the rest of it becomes about scoring and sound design.

MTV: How about [the rumor of] Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury?
Favreau: That's another interesting question. Right now the only thing that's saving me is the white noise out there. I don't like lying to the fans, but that doesn't mean I have to spill all the secrets either.

Drillbit Taylor, Iron Man Commercials to Air During Super Bowl

Forget who will be playing in Super Bowl XLII (airing February 3 on FOX). Most people just wanna know one thing:

What commercials will be showing?

Specifically, movie goers are curious about the ads for major films they'll see for the first time during the big game. While some studios have opted to buy ads during the Super Bowl's pre- or post-shows, as Paramount is doing with the comedy Drillbit Taylor (pictured), others will showcase features during breaks in the action.

Variety reports that commercials for Iron Man and Will Smith's action adventure Hancock will be aired at some point during the game. Also, look for Adam Sandler comedy Don't Mess With the Zohan, as well as Will Ferrell's Semi-Pro.

Disney said it was still considering which movies to offer, though Pixar's WALL•E is a contender, as is The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian.
