Gwyneth Paltrow: In the Dark About Iron Man 2

Will Scarlett Johansson portray Black Widow in Iron Man 2?

Don't ask Gwyneth Paltrow.

Heck, don't even ask her about a script for the sequel at the moment, as the actress told MTV this weekend that she hasn't been told anything about this major follow-up.

“They haven’t even given me a script yet,” Paltrow said. “They don’t tell me anything. I could be, like, a costume assistant in it. I know nothing.”

So, does Paltrow have any misgivings about the Iron Man sequel and/or her role in it? Nope.

"Jon Favreau said it would be good, so I believe him," the actress said.

That's good enough for us.

Scarlett Johansson Rumored for Role in Iron Man Sequel

With Emily Blunt having committed to the upcoming Gulliver's Travels, her previously-announced role in Iron Man 2 is now up in the air.

So, who might replace Blunt in the sequel?

Marvel is reportedly in discussions with Scarlett Johansson, according to Entertainment Weekly. The studio won't confirm such a rumor, but sources around Hollywood say the actress has met with filmmakers and is interested in taking the role of Russian spy Natasha Romanoff, who doubles as Black Widow.

Iron Man 2 still lacks shooting script and a production date has not yet been determined.

Robert Downey Jr. Stumps for Mickey Rourke in Iron Man 2

Will Mickey Rourke really star opposite Robert Downey Jr. in Iron Man 2?

Extra asked that question to the man that portrays Tony Stark during the Annual Oscar Nominee Luncheon. At the event, Downey wasn't shy in campaigning for his fellow nominee to play the villain in the Jon Favreau-directed sequel.

"I know that we've been talking about it a bunch," Downey said. "As long as we can make it a really great role, then I would urge him to continue considering it. We'd love to have him and we'll see how it goes."

Iron Man 2 is scheduled to begin filming this April in Los Angeles.

Sam Rockwell Confirms Role in Iron Man 2

It's an Iron Man sequel rumor no more:

Sam Rockwell will, indeed, portray Justin Hammer in the 2010 follow-up film.

“We had a phone conversation about it... They were like, we don’t have a script but this is the deal and this is the character," Rockwell told MTV.

Rockwell said he signed on, though, because he was a fan of the original Iron Man, which his girlfriend - the gorgeous Leslie Bibb - played a role in.

As for this Justin Hammer fellow?

“He’s a rival [of Tony Stark],” Rockwell said. “He takes over all the weapons stuff after Tony’s left.... I don’t know if he takes over Stark Industries... He’s a money dude. That’s about all I can say.”

Emily Blunt Considered for Role in Iron Man 2

Might Emily Blunt portray Natasha Romanoff in Iron Man 2?

The character is a Soviet super spy that doubles as Black Widow, a beauty in a skintight black costume that is enhanced by high-tech weaponry.

If verified, Blunt will join the previously-announced villains Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell in the sequel.

Blunt's film resume includes The Devil Wears Prada, The Jane Austen Book Club and Charlie Wilson's War.

Iron Man 2 is scheduled for a May 7, 2010 release.

Samuel L. Jackson: Out as Nick Fury?

Samuel L. Jackson, who made a cameo appearance as Nick Fury in the Iron Man credits, says negotiations have broken down between him and the studio.

The actor told The Los Angeles Times that he may not appear in Iron Man 2 after all.

Jackson as Fury

"There was a huge kind of negotiation that broke down. I don't know. Maybe I won't be Nick Fury. Maybe somebody else will be Nick Fury or maybe Nick Fury won't be in it. There seems to be an economic crisis in the Marvel Comics world so [they're saying to me], 'We're not making that deal.'"

Iron Man 2 Casting Rumors: Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell as Villains

Iron Man might have found his new arch rivals.

Rumors are swirling that Mickey Rourke and Sam Rockwell will be cast in the sequel, which is scheduled for a May 2010 release.

Rourke, Iron Man

Rourke, who is currently garnering Oscar buzz for his role in The Wrestler, would play a tattooed Russian named Ivan. He eventually becomes Whiplash, a man with deadly, technologically enhanced coils.

Rockwell would portray Justin Hammer, a billionaire businessman that often feuds Tony Stark. You can currently see the actor in Frost/Nixon, playing David Frost's researcher, writer James Reston, Jr.

Iron Man 2 Update: Theme Revealed

With just one calendar year remaining until Iron Man 2 hits theaters, more information is being released about this highly-anticipated sequel.

According to screenwriter Justin Theroux, the follow-up film will focus on the "nature of identity." He elaborated on such a motif in a recent interview with MTV:

"The obvious thing to improve upon - well, it's not even an improvement it's just something to embrace - which is that he's now a hero that lives in the real world. That's unique," Theroux said about Tony Stark.

Considering how Stark revealed himself as Iron Man at the conclusion of the original, the plot for Iron Man 2 will resolve around the problems this announcement brings up for our hero.

This aspect of the character, said Theroux, is "something that we've made a real decision to run towards rather than away from."

Iron Man 2 is scheduled to premiere on May 7, 2008.

Tim Robbins Rumored for Role in Iron Man 2

Might Tim Robbins play a role in Iron Man 2?

According to Latino Review, the actor would portray Howard Stark (Tony's dad) in a flashback sequence.

Tim Robbins Picture

The site reports a scene "is going to set up The Avengers and Captain America films," adding that director Jon Favreau cast a well-respected actor as Mr. Stark because it's such an important moment in the movie. Robbins would certainly fit that bill.

Moreover, bow-and-arrow-wielding hero Hawkeye, plus the evil Soviet spy Black Widow with whom he falls in love, will appear in the sequel.

Don Cheadle Speaks on Iron Man 2 Role

While we thought Terrence Howard did a solid job as Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes in Iron Man, we must admit:

We're big fans of Don Cheadle. We're excited to watch him in Iron Man 2.

For the first time since the recast of the part was announced, the Oscar-winning actor spoke on bringing Rhodey back to the big screen. Here are highlights from Cheadle's interview with IGN:

How did you get involved with Iron Man 2?
I got a phone call from my agent saying they were offering me the part. That was kind of it. It happened very fast, and I had a very short time to answer. Literally, overnight. I was unaware of what was happening with Terrence. And when they called me I asked what was going on with Terrence. I've worked with Terrence, I've known Terrence for a long time. And they said they were moving away from him.

So it's not like I was taking Terrence's job, because the job was already gone. Someone else was going to do the part. I don't know who the next person in line was, but that's who they were going to. And I literally had a few hours to accept the job or not.

How much can you reveal about the story?
I can't reveal anything because I've seen nothing. I have no idea. There's no script yet. All I know is as much as you know, that Rhodey looked at that suit and said, 'Next time.' So I imagine I'm going to be in a suit.
