Michael Fassbender Joins Cast of Inglorious Basterds

Michael Fassbender - pictured below, best known for his role as Stelios in 300 - is in final negotiations to join the cast of Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Bastards.

In other casting news, Simon Pegg had been close to signing on for the movie, but wrote on his website that "insurmountable scheduling difficulties" have gotten in the way.

Brad Pitt has agreed to play the lead in Inglorious Basterds. He'll portray a Tennessee hillbilly that assembles a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers to take on the Nazis. Mike Myers and Eli Roth are also on board.

Mike Myers Cast in Inglorious Basterds

Coming off The Lovd Guru - and its disappointing box office haul - Mike Myers has signed on to the cast of Quentin Tarantino's next movie.

Myers has signed on for Inglorious Basterds as British General Ed Fenech, a military mastermind who helps hatch a plot to kill Nazi leaders. He's the latest addition to an ever-growing, star-studded cast.

Brad Pitt stars in the movie as Lt. Aldo Raine, the leader of a group of Jewish-American soldiers dropped into German-occupied France on a singular mission to kill as many Nazis as they can. Eli Roth is also on board, and Tarantino is said to be courting Simon Pegg, Nastassja Kinski, David Krumholtz, and B.J. Novak for roles, as well.

Look for the movie to premiere in Cannes in 2009.

B.J. Novak to Join Cast of Inglorious Basterds

From selling paper to doing battle with Nazis.

The Hollywood Reporter states that The Office star B.J. Novak in in talks to porttray one of the soldiers in Inglorious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino's movie about a band of Jewish resisters in Vichy-era France.

Novak is expected to play PFC Utivich, a soldier of slight build who hails from New York.

Previously on the big screen, Novak has had bit parts in Reign Over Me and Knocked Up.

Eli Roth Signs on for Inglorious Bastards

Look for Eli Roth to appear in Inglorious Bastards.

The director of Hostel will portray a baseball bat-swinging Nazi hunter in Quentin Tarantino's next movie, which starts production this fall in Europe.

Brad Pitt is all but confirmed to play Aldo Raine, leader of a rogue band of Jewish-American soldiers who wreak havoc on the bad guys in Nazi-occupied France. Roth's character's name is Sgt. Donnie Donowitz.

Confirmed: Brad Pitt in Talks for Inglorious Basterds

Brad Pitt's reps have confirmed that the actor is in talks for Inglorious Basterds, Quentin Tarantino's WWII drama.

Previously, rumors have been floating around that Brad Pitt was up for the role of Aldo Raine and that Leonardo DiCaprio would be up for the Nazi Hans Landa. However, according to EW, the Brad Pitt rumor is true, while the DiCaprio one is false.

With Tarantino finally signing with Universal Studios and now signing up his stars, shooting should be on time to begin in the fall in Germany and France.

Universal Studios Signs Inglorious Basterds

Quentin Taratino's World War II drama, Inglorious Basterds, has been officially signed with Universal Studios.

According to Variety, Tarantino and Harvey Weinstein met with five studios last week and although it came down to Paramount and Universal Studios, they ended up signing with Universal. Lawyers are hammering out the details now.

After Tarantino met with Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, rumors have it that Pitt will play leading role Aldo Raine and DiCaprio will play the Nazi Hands Landa.

Shooting will begin in the fall in both Germany and France.

Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio: Inglorious Basterds?

According to Variety, Quentin Tarantino is speaking to two huge names about starring in his World War II drama, Inglorious Basterds.

The director met with Brad Pitt in France on Tuesday to talk about the possibility of Pitt playing the main role of Aldo Raine. From there, Tarantino reportedly also plans to meet with Leonardo DiCaprio for another lead role, that of Hans Landa, later in the week.

DiCaprio and Pitt would be appearing in a Tarantino-directed movie for the first time. The film will shoot this fall in Germany and France.

Inglorious Basterds Spoilers, Script

This is interesting: New York Magazine has evidently gotten its hands on the script - or at least an early version of it - for Quentin Taratino's next movie, Inglorious Bastards.

According to the magazine, the script is 165 pages long and follows a squad of American soldiers referred to as the "Bastards," a guerrillalike force who travel behind German lines in 1944, striking terror into the hearts of Nazi soldiers.

The Bastards are headed by Lieutenant Aldo Raine, which is the role we'd imagine Tarantino is hoping to land Brad Pitt for, as rumors have suggested. We'll keep you updated about Inglorious Basterds as more information is released about it.

Quentin Tarantino Reades Inglorious Basterds

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Quentin Tarantino is once more going into battle with the Weinstein Co. as he prepares his new screenplay Inglorious Bastards for an October shoot.

The Kill Bill writer-director is reteaming with Harvey and Bob Weinstein for his long-planned World War II action tale about a "Dirty Dozen"-like group of soldiers behind enemy lines.

Because the production will film in Europe and is looking toward an accelerated production schedule so that it can be finished in time to submit to May's Festival de Cannes, the Weinsteins are looking to join forces with a major studio to come aboard to co-finance in exchange for foreign rights.
