Neville: [to a pretty mannequin in the video store] I… I promised a friend I would say hello to you today.[begins to cry]Neville: Please say hello to me.[sobs]Neville: Please say hello to me.

Neville: Day one thousand and one. We came in close contact with a hive today. Blood tests confirm that I remain immune to both the airborne and contact strains. Canines remain immune to airborne strain only. The vaccine trials continue. I’m still unable to transfer my immunity to infected hosts. The Krippen Virus is… elegant.[mind wanders]Neville: Just fishin’ in the dark, son.[after a long pause, going back to his train of thought]Neville: Behavioral note - an infected male exposed himself to sunlight today. Now it’s possible decreased brain function or growing scarcity of food is causing them to… ignore their basic survival instincts. Social de-evolution appears complete. Typical human behavior is now entirely absent.

Dr. Robert Neville

Neville: He had this idea. It was kind of a virologist idea. He believed that you could cure racism and hate… literally cure it, by injecting music and love into people’s lives. When he was scheduled to perform at a peace rally, a gunman came to his house and shot him down. Two days later he walked out on that stage and sang. When they asked him WHY - He said, “The people, who were trying to make this world worse… are not taking a day off… how can I ? Light up the darkness.

Neville: Everyone you’ve ever known or loved is dead! They’re all dead! There is no god.

Will Smith Speaks on Shooting I Am Legend

During a recent press conference, Will Smith was asked about shooting I Am Legend in New York City. He replied:

“Shooting in New York, especially something on this level, is difficult. I would say, percentage-wise, it’s the most amount of middle fingers I have received in my career. I’m used to people liking me, it’s like fun. Middle fingers, I was starting to think F-U was my name.

We shut down six blocks of Fifth Avenue on a Monday morning. That was probably poor logistics, that was poor planning. You realize you’ve never actually seen an empty shot of New York. When we were doing it, it is chilling to walk down the middle of Fifth Avenue. You never have that opportunity.

Two o’clock in the morning on a Sunday you can’t do that. It created such a creepy energy and there are iconic buildings.

There’s a shot of the U.N. A shot of Broadway. It puts such an icky, eerie feeling on the movie when you see those shots, so logistically it was a nightmare but it absolutely created something you can’t do on a green screen or in another city substituting for New York.

He Is Legend: Director Francis Lawrence Speaks on Film

As the ads for Will Smith’s latest project, I Am Legend, announce: “The Last Man on Earth is Not Alone.”

Well, this applied to the actor during filming, as well: director Francis Lawrence played a key role throughout production of the flick. Below is an excerpt of an interview conducted with him:

ShockTillYouDrop.com: Why rescue I Am Legend from development hell?
Francis Lawrence: I read one of [screenwriter Mark] Protosevich’s drafts before I did “Constantine” and it stuck in my head. I hadn’t read the novel before that draft. When I was finishing “Constantine,” Akiva and I were talking about working together again and Warners gave him that project to resurrect ’cause they thought it was dead.

Will Smith, in a scene from I Am Legend

He brought it up to me, and I finally read the novel. Even before these projects, I was always intrigued by someone surviving in an abandoned urban environment. Back when I was doing music videos I’d try to do that with some of the artists I worked with. Trying to sell this feeling of isolation and emptiness.

I said, Let’s take a crack at it, and we went off with our own take from there.

Willow Smith Stars in I Am Legend

We all know Will Smith stars as “the last man alive” in I Am Legend.

But a certain young woman also makes an appearance in the upcoming film: Will’s daughter, Willow Smith.

In a recent interview with People magazine, the actor compared his daughter with his son, Jaden, who acted by his side in The Pursuit of Happyness.

“Jaden is [like] Johnny Depp,” Smith says. “He just wants to do good work…He loves acting, he just wants to make good movies.

But what about Willow?

“And Willow is Paris Hilton,” Smith said, laughing. “Willow wants to be on TV.”

Smith went on to say his daughter’s strong personality contributes to her impressive work ethic, stating: “You don’t work with Willow. You work for Willow.”

But that’s not to say the rising star isn’t dedicated to her craft:

In one grueling outdoor sequence for I Am Legend, temperatures dropped well below zero, Smith explained, but that didn’t stop his daughter from finishing her scenes.

“Willow was out there and she has her stuff on and she’s cold and she’s getting a little irritable. And she looks at me and says, “Daddy, I don’t care how low it goes. I’m going to finish.’

The Dark Knight Meets I Am Legend

If reports are true, a pair of blockbuster movies will collide - in a great way - this winter.

Supposedly, there will be be a six-to-seven minute preview of The Dark Knight shown before IMAX screenings of I Am Legend, which opens December 14.

The Dark Knight

As previously reported, the next film in the Batman franchise was actually shot partially in IMAX format, especially the introduction of The Joker (played by Heath Ledger).

Director Christopher Nolan recently told The Hollywood Reporter:”In continuing the story of such a great icon, I’m thrilled to be able to expand the scope of the film, not just in terms of its story, but in giving Batman and the Joker the largest possible canvas on which to face off.

No existing technology compares with the IMAX format in terms of its ability to throw the audience into the action, and we’re very proud and excited to use this technology in a way that no one has before.”
