Indiana Jones 5 Script "Taking Form," Harrison Ford Says

It's been rumored for weeks.

But now Harrison Ford himself is speaking out about a fifth installment of his beloved Indiana Jones franchise.

The actor spoke to France's Le Figaro newspaper about the project and sounded excited about the possibility:

"The story for the new Indiana Jones is taking form. Steven Spielberg, George Lucas and myself are agreed on what the fifth film should be about. George is actively working on it. If the script is good, I'll be very happy to put on the costume again."

Harrison Ford Signs on for Morning Glory

Harrison Ford has defeated terrorists, overcome Nazis and found the murderous one-armed man.

But he's never really made movie fans laugh. Until now.

The actor will star in J.J. Abrams' latest project, Morning Glory, a comedy about an faltering morning news show in chaos.

Rachel McAdams may sign on as an aspiring producer that attempts to temper the storm of feuding anchors and set the show straight. Ford will portray one of the newsmen in question, a role we can actually see him handling with humor.

Roger Mitchell (Notting Hill) will direct the film, while Abrams and fellow Lost and Fringe chief Bryan Burk are producing.

Harrison Ford Considers Fifth Indiana Jones Movie

Harrison Ford won't stick a nail in the coffin of Indiana Jones.

The veteran actor recently talked with MTV about the possibility of a fifth movie in this beloved franchise. Here's how the conversation went:

MTV: Is a fifth Indiana Jones film inevitable?
Ford: I don’t know. If we come up with a good idea…

MTV: Is the ball in George’s court at this point?
Ford: It is. That’s the process. With some general input he goes off and searches for the MacGuffin and then stumbles into a story. And at some point we have a chance to take a look at and give some input.

MTV: The end of the last film leaves your character in a very intriguing position. He has a wife and a kid. Can he still be that man of adventure with those commitments?
Ford: And he’s seen something. Remember those are the only witness to what he’s seen. That’s kind of interesting.

Harrison Ford Confirms Indiana Jones 5 Talk

Will there be yet another Indiana Jones movie?

We'd bet against it, but Harrison Ford is at least acknowledging that the possibility is being discussed.

"It's crazy but great," the actor told The Los Angeles Times. "[George Lucas] is in think mode right now."

Jonesing for a Fight

And why would Ford and company consider a follow-up to Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull? Well... why wouldn't they?

"It's automatic, really, we did well with the last one and with that having done well and been a positive experience, it's not surprising that some people want to do it again," Ford said.

Harrison Ford Would Revisit Jack Ryan

Now that Harrison Ford has successfully brought Indiana Jones back to the big screen (you might have heard), questions about reinventing his past characters have come up.

Ford as Ryan

The veteran actor is putting them to rest, though. Mostly.

"Han Solo isn't interesting to me. It's a very narrow sort of utility in the story and it was great for my career and it was fun to play at the time but I wouldn't go back there again," Ford told UK's The Sun.

He went on to explain his belief in why certain characters are better than other for re-exploration.

"There are characters that it seems to me are worth re-exploring given that the story advances your understanding of the character and deepens your relationship to that character and takes you into an area that's new and unexpected."

For example, what about Jack Ryan? Could Ford see himself starring in another movie based on a Tom Clancy novel? He doesn't rule it out.

"The Ryan films... I thought worth re-exploring again, but I wasn't a huge fan of the book on which the last one was based... I thought it was more out of date than the others so I think they made a cracking good shot at it and I think Ben Affleck (who starred in The Sum of All Fears) is very, very talented...

But again, that's a character that I think you could revisit acknowledging the passage of time and his increasing age."

What do you think, folks? Could you see Ford as Jack Ryan again? Or does this star need to find new roles?

Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf on TRL

As part of their promotional campaign for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (as if that movie even needs to be promoted), Harrison Ford and Shia LaBeouf showed up on MTV's Total Request Live this week.

When asked about a fifth Indiana Jones film - which George Lucas has admitted to contemplating - Shia smiled and said:

"I know Harrison would love to, I know that Harrison, when he's 80, will still be jacked. Is there going to be an 80-year-old Indiana Jones? No one can say never."

Harrison Ford Dishes on Life, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull

Most of the story lines of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull are still secret - but Harrison Ford recently told USA Today the movie will try to give new perspectives on his globe-trotting, fist-fighting archaeologist.

"He's a guy who is pretty clear from the beginning," Ford said. "He has not changed so much between films. But we've learned more about him, through various plot devices, such as the introduction of his father. And we'll learn something more about him in this film. I think it's required. If you're going to bring back a character, you'll have to supply the audience with something more and different. "

Jackpot!

Ford added that "the adventure is very, very important. But it's interesting to discover a facet of the character that perhaps you hadn't explored before."

Such as his age. Yes, even Indiana Jones must grow old, as the character's development in life will reflect that of the man portraying him in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

"I think it's an interesting element to take advantage of," Ford said. "Clearly, it's another challenge that he faces."

Somehow, we think he'll overcome it.
