David Goyer Talks Ghost Rider 2

There has been a lot of speculation about what angle Ghost Rider 2 will take. Even Nicholas Cage has called for a Ghost Rider reboot.

Screenwriter David Goyer, who has brought us Batman Begins and Blade 2, recently spoke with MTV about his plans for the flaming super hero.

"It's not exactly a reboot," said Goyer. "I hate to say it's more realistic, because he's got a flaming skull for a head, but it's a bit more stripped down and darker. It's definitely changing tone. What 'Casino Royale' was to the Bond movies, hopefully this will be to 'Ghost Rider.'"

So it is a reboot, yet it isn't?

"This story picks up eight years after the first film," said Goyer. "You don't have to have seen the first film. It doesn't contradict anything that happened in the first film, but we're pretending that our audience hasn't seen the first film. It's as if you took that same character where things ended in the first film and then picked it up eight years later—he's just in a much darker, existential place."

Ah, well it's good to hear that they're not relying on the first film, as any good sequel should, but pretending the audience hasn't seen the original? That's a bit disrespectful, don't ya think? Oh, I forgot- it's Ghost Rider.

Ghost Rider 2 is apparently set to roll next year, with Nicholas Cage still attached to play Johnny Blaze.

David Goyer to Pen Ghost Rider Sequel?

It's hard not to laugh at the concept of a Ghost Rider sequel. We weren't exactly anxious for more after the original.

But the Nicolas Cage might not suck after all; not if David Goyer actually pens the screenplay for it.

Variety reports that Goyer is in talks to revisit a script he wrote for a Ghost Rider movie several years ago. He's been behind such major flicks as Batman Begins and The Dark Knight; Goyer is also producing the new ABC hit FlashForward.

Nicolas Cage Hopes to "Reconceive" Ghost Rider Sequel

Typically, when a movie is made into a sequel, it's because those involved with the original were actually proud of their accomplishment.

But that doesn't seem to be the case with Nicolas Cage and the rumored Ghost Rider sequel.

In an interview with MTV, the actor expressed his hopes for Ghost Rider 2, explaining that he hopes it's pretty much a different movie entirely than the first film.

"I would like to reconceive [the movie]," Cage said. "I would like to go in a whole other direction, and I think that's what they're talking about."

Hey, here's a better idea: just don't make the sequel!

Nicolas Cage Reveals Hopes for Ghost Rider 2

Ghost Rider 2 is looking more and more like a strong possibility.

Star Nicolas Cage told MTV over the weekend that the search is on to find a screenwriter for the sort of-anticipated sequel.

The actor, who will reprise his role as Johnny Blaze for the movie, wants Ghost Rider 2 "to have that action horror element and go deeper into that if it were to happen and [it should] keep us asking questions. Keep it interesting on a philosophical level."

Ghost Rider Sequel: Confirmed!

It's (sadly) official: a Ghost Rider sequel is in the works.

Sources confirm that Columbia Pictures is preparing a follow-up to the 2007 comic book adaptation that featured Nicolas Cage as stunt motorcyclist Johnny Blaze. The character gives up his soul to become a Hell-blazing vigilante.

The studio has asked writers to pen the sequel, while Cage is signed on to return.

Eva Mendes Shrugs Off Ghost Rider 2 Talk

A couple weeks ago, Nicolas Cage made it clear that Ghost Rider 2 was pretty much confirmed.

But Eva Mendes told MTV that she's unlikely to participate in any sequel.

“No, I think Ghost Rider had its moment,” Mendes said. “I don’t know about a sequel, but I don’t think it needs one.”

This stance doesn't mean the actress didn't enjoy the original, she added.

“I think it was a great experience, and I was so proud of it. It was fun…but I think it’s done. But look, hey, if it’s Nicolas Cage again - I’ll do anything with him.”

Nicolas Cage Fuels Ghost Rider Sequel Rumors

Yesterday, Nicolas Cage spoke on the strong likelihood of a National Treasure 3.

Now, in a new interview for his new action movie Bangkok Dangerous, the Oscar-winner talked about another possible film follow-up: Yes, we might be looking at Ghost Rider 2.

Here's what Cage had to say about a sequel to last year's Ghost Rider.

Yes, actually, had a nice meeting with the studio about 3-months ago, and we talked about going international with that character. Taking him into Europe, having him go on a motorcycle tour through Europe, and he's connected with the church, if you can believe that. So it sort of has elements to it that are very much in the zeitgeist, with "The Da Vinci Code" and things like that.
