Maybe you can’t sleep with James Bond.

But you can smell like the woman who will!

Avon has introduced a signature fragrance called “Bond Girl 007.” The face of the fragrance? Quantum of Solace star Gemma Arterton.

Avon Products, Inc. today announced a collaboration with the James Bond entertainment franchise… to create a new signature Bond Girl 007 women’s fragrance, bringing the confident allure of cinema’s sexiest icons to Avon consumers worldwide. British actress Gemma Arterton, who plays the role of Agent Fields in the upcoming Bond film, will be the face of the new fragrance.

“I’m thrilled to be working with two such iconic and established brands,” said Arterton. “The Bond Girl 007 fragrance embodies everything a Bond Girl represents - intelligence, sexiness and confidence.”

Jake Gyllenhaal and Gemma Arterton will star in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films’ adaptation of the popular video game.

In the fantasy adventure, Gyllenhaal will portray Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia who must join forces with Tamina (Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess. Together, they must prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

As The Hollywood Reporter states, Gyllenhaal will next appear in Brothers with Tobey Maguire.

British actress Arterton is relatively new on the film scene, but is already generating heat for her work in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming RocknRolla and the new James Bond movie, Quantum of Solace.

Don’t worry: this isn’t exactly a monumental Quantum of Solace spoiler.

But Gemma Arterton was asked by IGN about whether her character and James Bond at least get to first base. Here’s the exchange:

To what extent is your character a real Bond girl? Do you get to kiss Bond?
Gemma Arterton: Yes, I do. Though I don’t know if I’m allowed to say that. I’m actually an agent and I work with him, though I think I’ll automatically be called a Bond girl. But in that way I suppose you could call M a Bond girl. She’s very typically Fleming because in the last Bond, and this Bond with Olga [Kurylenko's] character Camille, they’re very independent and strong women out there for themselves.

But my character’s very, very cute. It’s nice because these Bond’s are so different - there’s something much more edgy about them, and my character’s like an homage to the ’60s Bond girls, which I love.

Well, we got it partially correct.

Gemma Arterton will appear in Bond 22, but she reportedly will NOT be portraying the main Bond Girl in the film.

The Hollywood Reporter recently wrote: “Arterton will play ‘Fields’ in the Marc Forster-directed movie, which has the working title of Bond 22 and stars Daniel Craig as Agent 007.”

The Bond Girl character is said to be Latina (Mayrin Villanueva?), so Arterton would play supporting character. But The Hollywood Reporter called Arterton’s character Fields “a nice-sized role.”

It’s been confirmed that Gemma Arterton has landed the coveted role of Bond Girl in the next James Bond movie.

The British actress - who can currently be seen in St. Trinian’s - recently discussed the part:

“[My agent] said ‘If you do this big film, it will open the doors for all these other brilliant things. But you have to do the big film first.’ It’s like the Keira Knightley thing: everyone ridiculed her for doing the Pirates films, but she’s getting great parts now. She can choose whatever she wants,” Arterton said.

We don’t think Knightly was criticized for those roles, but Gemma continued:

“I think it’s difficult for a young girl like me, because there’s a certain time for young actresses, which is like a really juicy period when all the parts are love interests and young heroines. Of course, there’s always work for men whatever age they are. So I’m really going to go for it. And if it all goes wrong, I’ll go and do panto!”

St. Trinian’s is a critically acclaimed British comedy. It stars a few well-known actors - such as Colin Firth and Mischa Barton - but two of its main stars are receiving a bulk of the film’s attention:

Gemma Arterton and Talulah Riley. The pair recently spoke with IGN about the movie and their careers:

IGN: Would you have wanted to go to St. Trinian’s yourselves?
Talulah Riley: I would because you get to be an individual and have individual expression, but on the other hand they’re criminals, so it might have been a bit wild in there.
Gemma Arterton: Yeah I agree, I think I would have loved the craziness of it, and being able to do what you want, but I would have gone a bit off the rails! I would have gone the wrong way…

IGN: Were you both worried about the more salacious elements of film?
Talulah Riley: If you know Oliver (Parker) and Barnaby (Thompson); the directors, then you’ll know they’re the nicest guys and they’re just family men and you know it’s not going to be anything dreadful.
Gemma Arterton: And I think the way that it’s directed, it’s been really skilfully done. They’ve not allowed it to become like that, they’ve worked really hard and I think they’ve succeeded in not making it smutty.

IGN: What’s next?
Talulah Riley: I don’t know yet!
Gemma Arterton: I’ve got a couple of films coming up next year, I’ve just finished doing a black comedy called Three and Out, with McKenzie Crook. I’m also in Guy Ritchie’s new film Rocknrolla – it’s a gangster film and I have a really small part in it as a ditzy secretary. It’s got influences from the music industry and it’s quite dark and that comes out early next year.

In a recent interview, Daniel Craig hinted at the real name of the upcoming James Bond movie. (You didn’t think it would actually be called Bond 22, did you?)

The actor said that because Casino Royale dealt with Bond attaining his 00 status, the new film would chronicle his first actual mission as 007. Therefore, Craig hinted that the title for the film could quite simply be 007. Works for us.

Meanwhile, the latest name thrown around as being cast as the next Bond Girl is Gemma Arterton.

Several British newspapers - The Sun, The Guardian and The Daily Mail - report that the unknown British actress has been cast in the coveted role. However, the papers attribute the news to MarieClaire.com, but a search of the site turned up no such report.

Others rumored to be up for the part have included Cleo Pires and Mayrin Villanueva.
