More Reel Movie Reviews: Pineapple Express, Death Race, The House Bunny

We've added a new section of movie reviews to our site.

Now, you can find out just how many gummi bears we gave the latest Seth Rogen comedy in our Pineapple Express review. We didn't hate it, but we didn't think as highly of it as we did Superbad or Knocked Up, either. Not even close.

We've also reviewed two of the top three movies from last weekend's box office: Death Race and The House Bunny.

We hope you enjoy these new, more personalized, detailed review sections of the site. Feel free to write in and respond to any of them at any time!

Reel Movie Reviews: Death Race

ReviewsGive Death Race credit for one thing: it's title says it all. There's no mistaking what you're in for when you buy a ticket to this Jason Statham movie.

According to an assortment of movie critics, though, that's where the good news concerning this film ends. Check out their negative views on it now...

- Bravely takes on that philosophical quandary every one of us must face: What to do when a ninja breaks into your home, frames you for the murder of your wife and taunts you with a finger-gun motion? -- Arizona Daily Star

- Loud, vulgar and stupid, but what's most amazing is that despite all the bedlam, it will probably either bore you to tears or send you into gales of unintended laughter... -- One Guy's Opinion

Death Race Movie Poster

- A serviceable, forgettable genre film marked by leaden performances, even more leaden dialogue, a few sterlingly gruesome images, and a supremely campy performance from Joan Allen... -- Slant Magazine

- Paul W.S. Anderson may have a lot of flaws as a filmmaker, but the man knows cheap thrills, and he delivers them here... -- Cinema Blend

Jason Statham Dishes on Death Race, The Transporter 3

With Death Race about to hit theaters, Jason Statham recently sat down to discuss this film with ReelzChannel, while also touching on another movie he just completed shooting.

What was it like shooting those racing scenes? Did you get to drive any of the cars?
They had many stunt cars. Any action movie that involves cars, they have multiple copies of the same car, so when they get mangled and bashed they just slip in the next one. One of the most difficult things was the fact that they don't have a lot of vision. The cars are covered in armor and there's very little vision that you can really draw any confidence from.

It's quite nerve-wracking to know where you are and who's coming up and who's not coming up, and the track's just full of dangerous pylons and steel girders. One mistake and it's over. So, it was a massive concern for the stunt coordinators involved, just because of the danger that those kind of things present. We just had to sort of go and do the best we could.

Was there something specific you wanted to do with [Transporter 3]?
I wanted to make it better than the first two. I always felt the first one was the best one, for me. With the second one...I thought we could do better. We're always trying to do better. We just need more time and more money, and that's hard to get. If we're indulged with a little bit more money, a bit more of a budget, more time, more preparation, we can do something really, really good. But sometimes we don't get that. I think the third one's probably the best out of the three.

Tyrese Gibson Dishes on Death Race

Tyrese Gibson certainly knows how to drive a fast car.

The former model got his acting break in The Fast and the Furious. Now, he's back for Death Race, an action-packed thrilled that co-stars Jason Statham.

Gibson shared his thoughts on the film with MoviesOnline:

How did you get involved with Death Race?
Paul reached out and said that he kinda had me in mind for it, but he didn't give me the part. What ended up happening is we met up at a hotel. And he ended up slipping and giving me the part without knowing. So my people said, "Tyrese, the director wants to meet you but he hasn't determined if he wants to go with you or not. So he'll let us know a couple days after the meeting if he's gonna go with you or not."

So at the whole dinner, I'm on edge. You're trying to put the good impression and all that. "Yeah, man, you know how this'll be great. I'd love to be a part of this." But where he slipped up at is he pulled his laptop out and while he was talking to me, he say, "You know, so these are the areas that we're gonna be filming at." So I'm like, "Oh, sh*t. You said we." Then he said, "This is the car that I have you in mind to drive in."
