Bond 23 to Start Shooting Next Year

Daniel Craig recently revealed to fans waiting for him outside of "A Steady Rain", the Broadway play he's currently performing with Hugh Jackman, that filming for the next Bond film should "start at the end of next year."

Cunning Craig

This will mark Criag's third appearance as James Bond, following Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, which earned $594 million and $586 million, respectively, at the worldwide box office.

Peter Morgan, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing the script for the 23rd film. There's been no word on who will take the directing chair this time around, or whether or not Slumdog Millionaire star Frieda Pinto has made the cut as a Bond girl.

Daniel Craig Compares James Bond Movies

In a recent interview with ComingSoon.net, Daniel Craig was asked about the difference between the two most recent James Bond movies.

Here's his reply:

Because Casino Royale was based on a novel and we're always going to have that. When you do a movie like that, where the basis of a story is really strong and also the momentum of it, everyone thought that it was going to be sh*t. So when it wasn't, they were all just completely surprised. I think that Quantum of Solace is as good a movie as Casino Royale.

I think that the difference is that last time people were surprised by the fact that they enjoyed it. The fact is that we get reviews in newspapers that we'd never had reviews in before. Certainly with the Internet we get seven and a half million reviews, which are all worth looking at, obviously.

Daniel Craig Dishes on Future James Bond Movie

Does Daniel Craig wanna see the follow-up to Quantum of Solace continue the story that began with Casino Royale? Not exactly. Or, to put it more bluntly:

"No f****** way," the actor told Collider when confronted with that question. "We've finished this story as far as I'm concerned. We've got a great set of bad guys. There is an organization that we can use whenever we want to. The relationship between Bond and M is secure and Felix is secure."

Cunning Craig

So, where does Craig wanna see the franchise go?

"Let's try and find where Moneypenny came from and where Q comes from. Let's do all that and have some fun with it."

As for when we might see the 23rd James Bond movie of all-time? Well, don't hold your breath, the actor says.

"We don't know when we're going to do the next Bond. Nobody's thinking about it at the moment. We're giving it a rest for the moment. If I can squeeze something in next year I will, but I haven't figured out what that'll be yet. But nothing in the cold."

Daniel Craig Praises Marc Forster

As the hype for Quantum of Solace - which opens today! - has escalated over the last few weeks, star Daniel Craig has received the bulk of the attention.

But the actor recently gave praise to director Marc Forster. Here's what Craig had to say:

"What Marc is, fundamentally, is not only a great director, but a lover of movies. He knows the process. If you look at his films, how varied they are from 'Monster's Ball' to ['Finding] Neverland' to 'Kite Runner,' each one is so individual. You would think they were different directors if you were to look at them blindly I think, and that is what I think he brought to this.

He brought this attitude of here we go, it's a Bond movie, we don't get to have chances like this very often, lets give this a go. I mean the discussions we had before we started shooting were about the classic Bonds we love, the classic movies of the '60s that we loved. And whatever we are going to do, we are going to make a movie that people remember because it is visually stunning, it goes to the best locations in the world, and that it will be remembered as a stunning Bond movie."

Daniel Craig's Oscar Flick: Defiance

The new bond flick, Quantum of Solace, starring Daniel Craig is due out in theaters in just a few short weeks. Craig, however, might be a little more excited for his next flick, Defiance, which has Oscar written all over it. MTV Movies Blog recently spoke with producer Marshall Kerskovitz.

Defiance, which is directed by Ed Zwick, the man behind Oscar-nominated Blood Diamond and The Last Samurai, is a true story set during World War 2. According to producer Marshall Kersovitz:

"The film is basically about these 3 brothers, and Daniel Craig is one of them, who run into the woods when the Germans invade in 1941 and they end up saving a huge number of Jews, 1200 people they saved. It’s an amazing true story; there is a moment in the film with these people who have just been through hell, living in the woods through the winter and all that. They capture a German soldier and what happens in that moment - and what you see on Daniel Craig’s face - is really quite extraordinary."

Sounds good! We can't wait for our favorite James Bond since Connery to finally get the Oscar he deserves. Herskovitz had the following to say about Craig:

"The thing about Daniel is that those of us in the business who have been watching his performances for years have been saying this guy is going to be a big star, he is one of those people like Steve McQueen, who combines this charisma, this incredible look, that’s not even about handsome or not handsome, it’s just an amazing, masculine, wonderful, attractive look. So when you find those things together in a person, watch out!”

Little creepy, but we like it!

Daniel Craig Comments on James Bond Role

In an interview airing tonight on Extra, Daniel Craig opens up about his path to James Bond.

According to the Quantum of Solace star, he sought advice from the previous actor to play the iconic role.

“I sat next to [Pierce Brosnan] at the BAFTAs... after dinner, after having enough to drink, I just went over [to him] and said, ‘Look, it’s not on the cards. It might be on the cards. If it were to be on the cards, what should I do?’ And he said, ‘Go for it. Just go for it. You’ve got to have a go at this.’”

Shaken, Not Stirred

During the feature, Craig also cited his favorite James Bond of all-time:

“Sean Connery without a doubt. Nothing against Pierce and everyone else.”

Daniel Craig Answers Quantum of Solace Questions

Daniel Craig was kind enough to sit down with ComingSoon.net last week and answer a series of questions from readers of that site.

Here's an excerpt from the interview, focusing on the iconic character Craig is taking on:

How do you feel James Bond evolves as a character in this movie?
I hope kind of well. There's no sort of clear answer. He's a spy. I think he hardens. I think is slightly distressing. We touch upon it in "Casino Royale" and I don't want to get all kind of deep and silly about it. But, he has his heart broken and suddenly you kind of see this broken man and I find that very interesting. But that can't be James Bond, because he can't be broken. He can't, because if he was broken it wouldn't work. It's finding that person that we can trust but not and that's something I wanted to make sure that we put into the first film that I don't want.

Shaken, Not Stirred

James Bond will always like his martinis, as this Quantum of Solace scene shows.

Someone just said to me, "well he's a bit like a bad guy" and I was like, "Yeah, well he kills people for a living." I mean where's the ambiguity? There's no ambiguity in that and it's up to the audience to decide whether or not they think it's right that he kills that person at that particular time. So the development of the character is one that we know this is what he does, this is how he gets it done. This is how he behaves in certain circumstances and hopefully he's open enough as a character for us to believe that when he hits something new he's discovering it as we're discovering it.

I'm very nervous about answering questions about kind of how I discover characters or where we take characters too because I think it's so much about what the audience perceives and how they believe it or how they don't believe it. I took something we did in "Casino Royale" and I've taken him on and he's moved on but you know he's still damaged and f*cked up and all those sort of things that you know he'd hopefully was in the first one.

And you know he kills people for a living. He must wake up in the night occasionally in a bit of cold sweat, but maybe we'll never see that, I dunno, who knows?

Quantum of Pain: Daniel Craig Injured on Set

Daniel Craig sliced off the tip of one of his fingers filming an action sequence this week for Quantum of Solace.

Guess that's what happens when you try flying off a bus...

Excuse Him...

According to The Daily Mail, Craig was taken to hospital today while a scene was being shot at Pinewood Studios.

It's the second time in two weeks that the actor has been injured during filming. A week ago his face was cut and required eight stitches. It's a small price to pay to portray James Bond, of course.

This isn't exactly the most exciting behind the scenes clip you'll ever see of Quantum of Solace. But it is one of the first.

Daniel Craig Speaks on Bond 22 Cast, Story Lines

Daniel Craig recently spoke at length about the next James Bond movie with RottenTomatoes.com.

The actor confirmed that Bond 22 "carries on from where (Casino Royale) stopped... We set up in the last one that there's this organization that is destabilizing the world's economy because they want to take it over, and that's his job now, to go out and stop them."

As for all the actors that have come aboard the franchise, Craig is "over the moon" about the casting of The Diving Bell and the Butterfly's Mathieu Almaric as the film's main villain, Dominic Greene.

"I met him very briefly on Munich but I didn't do any scenes with him," Craig said. "Now I've got to know him on Bond and I saw (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly) and thought it was amazing."

James Bond Pic

Having already worn the moniker of 007 for one movie, and pleased longtime James Bond fans, Craig sounds far more relaxed for the 22nd film in the franchise.

"I'm no less nervous than I was, but I'm very happy with what we've put together for this one. The fact that Marc Forster's come in to direct it just makes my job a lot easier. He's taken care of a lot of stuff that I just don't have to think about and I'm just getting on with acting."

As we've reported, a pair of beauties have also been added to the cast: Gemma Arterton and Olga Kurylenko.
