Chris Pine's Patriot Games

Move over Harrison Ford, there may be a new Jack Ryan in the house. Word around the Hollywood campfire is that Paramount Pictures is in talks with Star Trek's Chris Pine to play CIA analyst Jack Ryan in a reboot of franchise based on the best-selling Tom Clancy novels.

Pine Time

Okay, sure Harrison Ford already gave up the Jack Ryan mantle to Ben Affleck in The Sum of All Fears, but everyone knows that was a mistake, so we won't count it. Shhhhh!

Pine would be the fourth actor to play Jack Ryan, following Alec Baldwin in The Hunt For Red October, Harrison Ford in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger, and the one we won't speak of in The Sum of All Fears.

Pine was recently interviewed about the inevitable Star Trek sequel and what else is coming next for him in this interview.

Chris Pine Addresses The Green Lantern Casting Rumors

From Captain Kirk to Hal Jordan?

With rumors swirling that Chris Pine might star in The Green Lantern movie, the actor spoke to MTV about the possibility.

Pine, Chris

"I had a meeting with [casting director] Pam Dixon and [executive producer] Donald De Line, but a meeting was all it was," he said. "I have not been offered squat. I do not have the part and haven't read a script."

The Green Lantern is scheduled to begin filming this September in Australia. It's set for a December 17, 2010 release date.

Chris Pine Previews Captain Kirk, Star Trek

During a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal, Chris Pine expounded on his role as Captain Kirk in this spring's Star Trek remake.

Pine told the newspaper that the movie focuses on "him becoming the Kirk everyone knows. In my book that makes the journey a little more interesting. If he's a clear-cut leader from the beginning, you don't have anywhere to go."

He added that, in this J.J. Abrams-directed version of the franchise "Spock and Kirk are not enjoying each other's company at first. The arc is that they find common ground through great conflict."

Rising Star

Look for Chris Pine to become a household name after he stars as Captain James T. Kirk.

Chris Pine Promises Star Trek Sex, Nudity

As if movie goers needed another reason to line up for next year's Star Trek reboot.

Chris Pine, who plays Captain James T. Kirk in the film, is on record as saying the new version of the franchise will feature adventure, intrigue... and nudity!

Pine Time

One such scene can be found in the recently-released Star Trek trailer, where you can spot an underwear-clad Pine climbing on top of a mystery woman in bed.

But the major scene Pine says will be talked about involves Zoe Saldana taking her top off.

"It'll become famous," the actor said, adding that the movie is "trying to be sexed up for a new generation that really isn't used to seeing Star Trek."

Happy Birthday, Chris Pine!

Chris Pine is not a household name... yet.

The only movies this actor is remotely known for so far are Bottle Shock and Just My Luck.

This should all change, of course, after Pine takes on the iconic role of Captain Kirk in next year's Star Trek movie. For now, we'd just like to wish the rising star a happy 28th birthday.

Chris Pine Gives Props to Han Solo, Harrison Ford

Chris Pine is starring as Captain James T. Kirk in the upcoming Star Trek movie. But the actor recently told IGN that he won't be modeling his character on the one made famous by William Shatner.

Pine will, however, use a different, well-known character as inspiration. We'll allow him to explain:

"I would definitely say Harrison Ford in either Indiana Jones or Star Wars. What Harrison Ford is so great at doing is bringing that quality to his characters that if they could be anywhere else in the world they would be there, but he is not, he just is in the middle of s*** and he has to figure out a way of dealing with it so that he can go back to doing whatever the hell he was doing before the film started.

"I've always loved that quality about him in Star Wars, this sense of absolute grumpy manner; the accidental hero. Not to say that I modeled my version of James T Kirk on anything in particular but I think I definitely have wanted to bring that kind of Harrison Ford humour to Kirk."

Sounds like a safe bet to say that Pine will be closely watching Ford and his alter-ego in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull this May. As will we all.

Chris Pine is Captain Kirk

Is Chris Pine feeling pressure to star as an icon in the next Star Trek movie? Entertainment Weekly recently asked the actor this question, along with a few others:

Are you feeling any pressure to evoke William Shatner?
I actually feel the exact opposite. I think the biggest mistake I could ever do would be to try to re-create what Mr. Shatner did. There are certain qualities that Kirk has that are vital for someone who is a leader of men. And those qualities, I definitely wanted to take from what Mr. Shatner did in the original series. But my job is to take something new, to take that and build upon it, really do my own thing. I just feel no pressure when it comes to that.

Chris Pine is the new Captain James T. Kirk.

Is the pressure coming more from the fanboys and their off-the-charts expectations?
Yeah, sure, the Internet is not my friend in this case. Best to stay away. I can understand, I don't have that many credits and people are very worried that their Kirk is going to be destroyed. But I can only say that we're having a great time. J.J. [Abrams, the director] has been wonderful and the cast is phenomenal. I think what we're doing is very special.

Have you talked with Shatner?
I have not talked to Shatner. I wrote him a letter early on in the process and corresponded that way. I got a letter back from him, which is very nice. And I've met Mr. Nimoy a couple of times. He's been on set and we have a couple of scenes in the film, which will be nice, and I'm excited for those.
