Moneyball Game Back on for Brad Pitt

To use a baseball term: insiders balked at the fact that Sony Pictures canceled the big screen adaption of Moneyball only days before it was scheduled to start shooting this month.

But it now seems that the Brad Pitt project will get off the ground, after all.

The studio has asked The West Wing creator Aaron Sorkin to pen a quick re-write on a script that Sony had originally deemed too arty and documentary-like in approach, according to The New York Times.

Moneyball is based on Michael Lewis' real-life account of the Oakland Athletics and their general manager Billy Beane, respected throughout the game for assembling a competitive Major League team despite a small payroll.

Pitt will portray Beane.

Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman to Star in Artifacts

Paramount Pictures had recently won the right to make a movie adaptation out of the new Leanne Shapton book, Important Artifacts and Personal Property from the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion, and Jewelry.  Let's just call it Artifacts instead.

The book is told in the form of a estate auction catalog with 325 entries and photographs that describe the events and lives of a four year relationship between Hal Morris, a photographer, and Lenore Doolan, a food columnist.

According to Variety, the project will be developed as a romantic comedy and star Pitt as Morris and Natalie Portman as Doolan.

Brad Pitt Rumored for Lead Role in Moneyball Movie

We already know how Brad Pitt looks as the lead in Inglorious Basterds.

But can you imagine the star donning the outfit of A's General Manager Billy Beane?

According to Variety, Pitt is being considered for the lead in a big screen adaption of Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game. The film will be based on Michael Lewis’ non-fiction book.

Moneyball

Lewis’ book centers around Beane, a front office employee that faced the difficult task of trying to assemble a major league team with one of the smallest budgets in baseball.

Considering the methods used and the focus on statistics, it's seems like a difficult movie to adapt.

Brad Pitt is an Inglorious Basterd

Brad Pitt is at the center of Quentin Tarantino's next movie, Inglorious Basterds. The actor takes on the role of Aldo Raine.

Aldo Raine

Here’s what Tarantino.info had to say about the character:

“Let me introduce you to the principal Basterd, the head honcho Basterd, most Inglourious of all Basterds, Lt. Aldo Raine. We’ve got a first look at Brad Pitt in full resistance fighter gear for you… This is a hillbilly straight from the mountains of Tennessee, a man with a scar around his neck that “will never once be mentioned,” this is Brad Pitt in one hundred percent Quentin Tarantino Nazi-scalping business.”

Brad Pitt Might Star as Odysseus. In Space.

It's one thing to imagine Brad Pitt as a Greek hero - he plays Achilles in 2004's Troy - but as a Greek hero... in space?

According to Variety, the actor is in negotiations to portray Odysseus in an adaption of The Odyssey; and, yes, the film would be situated in outer space.
