Movie Fans Choose to Burn After Reading

It took a flurry of new releases to finally knock The Dark Knight out of the weekend's top five at the box office.

We're not surprised Brad Pitt, George Clooney and company led the way with Burn After Reading - but we can't believe how powerful anything presented by Tyler Perry has become, as The Family That Preys shot to number two.

Here's the complete top five:

  1. Burn After Reading: $19.4 million
  2. The Family That Preys: $18 million

Movie Goers Aren't Afraid of Bangkok Dangerous

It may have been the slowest weekend at the box office in five years, but we're still stunned that Nicolas Cage's Bangkok Dangerous is sitting atop the rankings.

The film barely beat out Tropic Thunder for the top spot, giving Cage something to be happy about for the first time since he discovered who killed JFK at the end of The Rock.

Here's a look at the top five from the weekend:

  1. Bangkok Dangerous: $7.8 million
  2. Tropic Thunder: $7.5 million
  3. The House Bunny: $5.9 million
  4. The Dark Knight: $5.7 million
  5. Traitor: $4.6 million

The Dark Knight: Half a Billion... and Counting!

Batman, The Joker and company have gone to a place previously only a doomed cruise ship had ever seen.

As of this weekend, The Dark Knight has raked in over $502.4 million at the box office. It's the second movie of all-time to soar past the half billion dollar mark, needing just half the time it took Titanic to reach that level.

Bruce Wayne, Lucius Fox

Look, Lucius, Reel Movie News says we're making lots of money at the box office.

Currently, The Dark Knight ranks second behind Titanic's overall $601 million gross. Let's hope the Batman sequel eventually pushes past that cheesy chick flick.

"It's wonderful!" star Christian Bale said of the movie's box office success. "But I'm not a business man. I just enjoy doing what I do and whatever happens after that is gravy."

Tropic Thunder Still Being Heard at Box Office

The Dark Knight, it is now.

But the comedy Tropic Thunder has remained atop the box office rankings for three weekends in a row. Here's a look at the latest top five:

  1. Tropic Thunder: $11.5 million
  2. Babylon A.D.: $9.7 million
  3. The Dark Knight: $8.7 million
  4. The House Bunny: $8.3 million
  5. Traitor: $7.9 milllion

Speedman, Kirk Lazarus
