The rumor is, sadly, a reality:

Big Momma’s House 3 is coming to a theater near you.

As confirmed by Variety, Fox is preparing yet another installment of the Big Momma franchise, as Randi Mayem Singer is on board to write the film's second sequel.

The movie publication states the plot for Big Momma’s House 3 is being kept silent for now... because the world is just dying to know! The original Martin Lawrence flick was released in 2000.

This makes Ghostbusters 3 seem like a great idea.

According to producer David Friendly, another installment of the Martin Lawrence franchise, Big Momma's House, is in the works.

Here's what IESB reports Friendly said:

Friendly says that Big Momma’s House 3 is still in the works (it was rumored to be ready for 2008). He says it’s currently in the script writing stage and will hopefully be ready for 2009 release. Big Momma’s House (2000) and Big Momma’s House 2 (2006) starred Lawrence as an undercover FBI agent using a fat suit to impersonate a Southern granny.
