Arrested Development Movie: Confirmed!!!

The rumors appear to have given way to fact: an Arrested Development movie is on the way!

E! Online reports that producers Mitch Hurwitz and Ron Howard have signed deals to do produce a film with Imagine and Fox Searchlight studios; a budget of $15 million has already been approved.

"Yes, it's a go," said an anonymous cast member "We're all very excited. And it will happen with or without the holdout."

Yes, there's a holdout, as one of the show's original cast members has not signed on to the film yet. We have a pretty clear idea who that is. Still:

"I do know that we will do the project with or without [him or her]," said the aforementioned co-star, who would not name the individual in question at this time.

Ron Howard Chimes in on Arrested Development Movie

Ron Howard, who served as executive producer and (hilarious) narrator on Arrested Development, recently chimed on on the possibility of the sitcom hitting the big screen.

"I really hope we do it," Howard said. "The reason there's been so much back and forth is... well, for two reasons, is the business understanding coming from the studio side was not clear, so even though we were wanting to do it and said, 'Yeah, maybe we could' but things weren't defined. I think that's really come into focus in the last week or so.

[Creator Mitchell Hurvitz's] full-on commitment to not only write it but direct it is something he's been wrestling with, he's been launching a TV show at the same time, so he couldn't let it really be at the forefront of his mind creatively. It is now. He seems very committed. We still don't have a script. Yeah, he's got some great ideas, and the cast seemed very excited about it and I certainly am. I'm very, very hopeful—more hopeful now than ever—that it's really going to happen."

Arrested Development

We can only continue to hope, and pray, than an Arrested Development movie gets made.

Jeffrey Tambor on Arrested Development Movie: It's a Go!

We continue to receive mixed signals about an Arrested Development movie.

Recently, Michael Cera appeared to shoot down the idea.

But a new interview with Jeffrey Tambor makes a big screen version of this incredible comedy seem like a done deal. The actor that portrays George Bluth told Collider that "we're doing it. It's a go."

George Bluth

We'll be as excited as George Bluth if an Arrested Development movie is actually made.

Tambor said that writer/producer Mitch Hurwitz recently spoke to him about the project and ”when the writer/director calls you it’s a pretty good sign.”

We agree. But can we really get our hopes up, Jeffrey?

"Get your hopes up. That's what hopes are for," he said.

Well, okay then!

Michael Cera Shoots down Arrested Development Movie Rumors

Michael Cera is breaking our heart.

In a recent interview, the Juno and Superbad star was asked about the possibilities of an Arrested Development movie. And his response was far from encouraging:

You’ve been quoted saying that you didn’t think there would be much interest in an Arrested Development movie, but there are still constant rumors that it will get made. What’s the status now?
People have asked me about a movie since the show was cancelled, but I don’t know. I think people will ask about it for a long time. Whatever the case, nothing I say will dictate anything.

But if it does get made, will you be in it?

It would depend on a lot of things. It’s pretty hypothetical. I know there’s a page for the movie on IMDb, which is strange because I know it’s definitely not that real.

More Arrested Development Movie Talk

Jessica Walter has now chimed in on the strong possibility of an Arrested Development movie.

The actress, who is starring on The CW's remake of 90210, recently told E! Online:

"I was told it's going to film next year. That's what I hear... and they better include me, or I'll put a bullet in my head!"

Naturally, the man hurdle will be scheduling, Walter said.

"That’s been the problem in the past, to try and get everybody together at the same time. But we are aiming for next year, and I hope it can all be worked out—I miss those people, I miss the writing."

Another Confirmation of an Arrested Development Movie

Talk of an Arrested Development movie is quickly moving from movie rumor to movie fact.

Stars Jason Bateman and Will Arnett have already gone on record in favor of the flick. Now, Jeffrey Tambor has confirmed reports that a movie version of the Emmy-winning Fox comedy is in the works.

"After months of speculation. I think we have finally figured out for sure that we are indeed doing an Arrested Development movie," Tambor told Entertainment Weekly. "I am very excited about that. I love that cast and crew and I felt like we had more to say."

The series, which aired for three seasons, starred Bateman, Arnett, Portia de Rossi, Jessica Walter and Michael Cera.

Jason Bateman Adds to Excitement Over Arrested Development Movie

But we don't care about that.

We just wanna hear more from this actor about the possibility of an Arrested Development movie. What's the latest?

"Well, the ball has started rolling down the hill again," Bateman told MTV. "So hopefully, all the adults can get the business stuff together - because all the creatives are on board."
The hilarious actor was also asked about the movie's tone: would be more structured (like Season 1) or random insanity (like Season 3):

"I don't know," he shrugged. "I learned a long time ago not to try to guess what [series creator] Mitch Hurwitz will come up with. But it'll be good, whatever it is."

That's for certain.

Will Arnett Contributes to Arrested Development Movie Rumors

Will Arnett is the third star of Arrested Development to confirm that a big screen version of this genius comedy may very well be on the way.

"It's a long way from the lip to the cup, but yes, I do think an Arrested Development movie is going to happen sometime in the near future," Arnett said, joining Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor in acknowledging the possibility that this dream will come true.

"It is hard to say when because a script needs to be written. With the strike over, it is looking more optimist. It certainly has been talked about recently. I'm on board. I think everyone wants to come back. "

An Arrested Development Movie in the Works?

We now present our favorite movie rumor of the new year:

There's buzz that the an Arrested Development movie might actually be happening! Jeffrey Tambor, who played George Bluth Sr. on the beloved series, said as much during an interview this weekend.

On XM Radio's The Ron and Fez Show, Tambor hinted that development on the Arrested Development movie may be starting soon.

"I think we're gonna make a movie," Tambor said. "I talked to Ron Howard [series executive producer] the other day, and he hinted around that there's a real push to get the movie made, of course, after the strike. And [he asked] was I on board. I said, of course! I'd love doing that!"

Moreover, Juno co-star and Arrested Development leading man, Jason Bateman, confirmed the rumor.

"I can confirm that a round of sniffing has started. Any talk is targeting a post-strike situation, of course," said Bateman. "I think, as always, that it's a question of whether the people with the money are willing to give our leader, Mitch Hurwitz, what he deserves for his participation. And I can speak for the cast when I say our fingers are crossed."
