Bio
Cate Blanchett was born in Melbourne, Australia and worked primarily in theatre until her breakthrough film role in the 1998 Elizabeth in which starred with her Academy Award-nominated role of Queen Elizabeth I.
Since then, Blanchett has had an impressive film career with roles in The Talented Mr. Ripley, Pushing Tin, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, Bandits, The Aviator, Babel, and Elizabeth: The Golden Age.
Blanchet may have signed a three year contract with the Sydney Theatre Company in January of 2008, but she's not disappearing from the big screen anytime soon. Blanchet has roles in the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and Wes Anderson's animated Fantastic Mr. Fox.
