Ben Kingsley was born Krishna Bhanji in Scarborough, Yorkshire, England and studied at the University of Salford. Kinglsey's big breakthrough came in his Academy Award-winning portrayal of Mahandas Gandhi in the 1982 Gandhi. Since then, Kingsley has appeared in numerous other films including Without a Clue, Bugsy, Sneakers, Dave, Searching for Bobby Fischer, Schindler's List, Sexy Beast, and House of Sand and Fog.
In addition to the Academy Award Kingsley won, he has been nominated for three more Academy Awards. He has also been nominated for eight Golden Globes, winning two for his performance in Gandhi. He's a pretty talented actor.
