Eagle Eye Review

Review by Mr. Shrek

We may be in the middle of the most exciting political season in recent memory, but that doesn't mean an action movie cloaked in poltiical tone will resonate with movie goers.

Such is the problem facing Eagle Eye.

The movie would be better off simply being a thriller that happens to use government as a tool to move the plot along, like Will Smith's Enemy of the State a few years ago. But Eagle Eye takes the use of technology a bit further, actually starting the film with a high-tech sequence involving the American military tracking a terror suspect in the Middle East.

It establishes a modern-day tone that most people have proven to be sick of these days. Just give us Shia on the run, politics be damned!

Calling for Help

Still, the movie does keep viewers guessing. We'd have preferred to have learned of the motives mysterious voice in control of the characters Jerry and Rachel a bit earlier, but anyone that has seen the Eagle Eye trailer has to be curious about what the heck is going on. Makes for solid suspense.

Shia LaBoeuf and Michelle Monaghan do a great job as clueless, scared pawns throughout the movie. And as long as you don't stop to wonder about why they are placed in a such position to begin with, you'll have a good enough time at the theater.
