Billy Crudup Analyzes Dr. Manhattan

In Watchmen, Billy Crudup is tasked with bringing Dr. Manhattan to life.

A former physicist that underwent a life-altering accident, this layered super hero can see the future. As Crudup told Entertainment Weekly, though, such ominiscience creates a problem for the doctor: he cares less and less for mere mortrals.

"Why bother with human beings when you can peer into a star?" the actor said, adding that the role and situation is "a thrilling thought experiment."

Watchmen fans certainly agree. The movie comes out on March 6, 2009.

Tropic Thunder Co-Star Praises Robert Downey Jr.

Tropic Thunder actor Brandon T. Jackson knows that co-star Robert Downey Jr. might receive some criticism from his unusual role in the comedy. But Jackson has a message to those that have a problem with the caucasian Downey painting his face black for most of the movie.

"To be honest, he played a black dude better than anybody I've seen!" Jackson told People Magazine about Downey's performance in the Ben Stiller-directed film.

Yes, that's Robert Downey Jr. in Tropic Thunder.

Jackson did admit to having initial hesitations about Downey's part. In the movie, Downey portrays Kirk Lazarus, an Academy Award-winning actor that's cast in the most expensive Vietnam war film ever.

However, Lazarus's character, Sgt. Osiris, was originally written as an African-American. So Lazarus dyes his skin to play the role.

"When I first read the script, I was like: What? Black face? But when I saw him [act] he, like, became a black man," Jackson said. ""It was weird on the set because he would keep going with the character. He's a method actor."

Gillian Anderson: Return to Scully Was a Challenge

In a recent profile of The X-Files: I Want to Believe, Gillian Anderson told MoviesOnline that the return to Dana Scully was not as simple as she'd been assuming it would be.

"On the first day of shooting, I was pretty confident about returning to the role," Anderson said. "I am usually terrified when I start a project, but that wasn't the case with this one."

However, the challenge of slipping back into a character Anderson thought she'd abandoned years ago quickly became immediately apparent.

"I had a really difficult first couple of days [of shooting the film]. I was having a really hard time finding Scully's voice, and I think part of that is because since the show ended, I've been doing everything in my power to take on roles that were very different from Scully.

The work I've been doing [since the show ended] has involved creating new characters from scratch."

The actress, does, of course, find her voice again as Scully. You can see her doing so when The X-Files: I Want to Believe opens on July 25.

Washed Up Actors Plan Future Projects

Say this about Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers, whose previous movies - Meet Dave and The Love Guru - completely tanked:

They're persisent.

Each recently talked to MTV News about their future projects, each sounding excited to put past failures behind them.

“This picture I’m doing now called A Thousand Words is like nothing I’ve ever done before. It’s not a kids movie, a family movie. It’s a really, funny smart picture. Different,” Murphy said. “I play this literary agent who finds out he only has 1000 words left to say and then he’s going to die.”

Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers

Eddie Murphy and Mike Myers teamed up to voice characters in Shrek. The career paths of these actors have been on a downward spiral ever since.

Yes, it’s high concept project from the actor .Forget about the debate over Beverly Hills Cop 4, and whether it will or will not contain profanity; the second half of this movie won’t contain words. At all.

“The whole second half of the picture, my character can’t talk," Murphy said.' This is a guy who’s used his mouth. He’s always fast talking, and all of a sudden he has to shut the f—k up,” Murphy said. “It turns into this like charade.”
