James Franco Has Made Bad Movies, Kissed Sean Penn

In a new interview with GQ, Pineapple Express star James Franco opens up about his past of bad movies - and his future of making out with Sean Penn.

On making a few bad films: “I wanted to be the best actor that I could be. It’s just sad for me, because I know I worked so hard, and I just feel like in some way I kind of blew it. It’s just hard to get away from what I see as the stain of these bad movies.”

On kissing costar Sean Penn in the movie Milk: “The first kiss of the movie was out on Haight Street, with, like, 200 people watching, outside. I’m sure in the end it will be a really cool shot, but it starts close and then it takes maybe a minute. That’s a long time on film with everybody watching, and, like, a fake moustache getting in your mouth. It was long enough that you couldn’t help but thinking, ‘Oh, my God, I’m kissing Spicoli.’”

Dane Cook Hates on My Best Friend's Girl

In actuality, Dane Cook recently said in his MySpace blog that he loves his upcoming movie, My Best Friend's Girl. He wrote it "is the best/funniest film I've done yet." That doesn't say much, of course.

The comedian went on to absolutely slam the poster for the romantic comedy. We guess Cook though he was being funny, but we think he was just biting the Hollywod hand that feeds him.

Here are excerpts from the aforementioned blog, with Cook explaining why he hates the My Best Friend's Girl poster:

Here are a few things that truly blow about my upcoming movie poster to promote the release of the film opening on September 19th:

Graphics:
Whoever photoshopped our poster must have done so at taser point with 3 minutes to fulfill their hostage takers deranged obligations. They should have called Donnie Hoyle and had him give a tutorial using "You Suck at Photoshop" templates. This is so glossy it makes Entertainment Weekly look wooden.

My Best Friend

My head:
The left side of my face seems to be melting off of my skull. I guess I am looking directly into the Ark of the Covenant? Are they going for the bells palsy thing here? My left side looks like Brittany Spears' vagina.

The Stare.
My character apparently has fallen in love with a strand of Kate Hudsons hair. Kate's mannequin is desperately in love with the inside of my right ear while Jason is half stunned, half corsage.

Final thoughts:
I set out to make a movie like the contemporary men and women, that you and I respect, are making. My generation of comedians, actors, directors and producers that I wish to collaborate with as I build a solid body of work.

My Best Friend's Girl Movie Trailer

Will the character abide by the saying "bros over hoes?" The trailer below might give us an idea:

Movie Rumor of the Day: Angelina Jolie Asks Porn Star for Catwoman Advice

A new rumor is igniting talk that Angelina Jolie could portray the Batman villain in the eventual sequel to The Dark Knight.

According to The New York Post's gossip section, Page Six, the actress has been asking for advice on taking the role of Catwoman from an unlikely source: adult film star Tera Patrick.

Can you picture Angelina Jolie as Catwoman?

Already with the approval of Julie Newmar, who played the original feline villain in the 1960s Batman TV series, Jolie has been discussing the possible portrayal of the Catwoman Patrick, who is a huge fan of the role.

"They are friends and keep in touch via e-mail. She and Angie have a girl-talk thing going," said a source of the newspaper. "After seeing reports that she'll land the lead role, Jolie asked Patrick what she thought. Tera had such insights into the role that Jolie cracked, 'You should do it!'

Hmmm, Tara Patrick as Catwoman? That might be a step down from Heath Ledger as The Joker.

Jake Gyllenhaal: Shirtless, Buff for Prince of Persia

The production on Prince of Persia has been delayed a bit, as the film won't be released until 2010.

Still, below is a photo of star Jake Gyllenhaal on set - and looking ripped!

The actor plays Dastan, a young prince in sixth century Persia.

He must join forces with Tamina (Gemma Arterton), a feisty and exotic princess, to prevent a villainous nobleman from possessing the Sands of Time, a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world.

Ben Stiller Talks Tropic Thunder

Ben Stiller wrote, directed, produced and starred in Tropic Thunder. Did the star mind all the work?

He was recently asked about it by MoviesOnline. Here's Stiller's reply:

The hardest scene for me in the movie was the scene after the action sequence in the beginning. Strangely, like the scene in the movie, it doesn’t really stand out as looking that complicated, but just shooting the movie crew and shooting the reveal of the movie set.

I think it was the combination of having these fake arms on and my hands were tied behind my back and I was playing an actor who was trying to tell the director to cut and the director was saying “Don’t cut” but I was the director in real life.

It was very confusing and there was a lot going on and there were so many people in the scene. The action stuff was so specific and we’d spent so many months prepping it with storyboards and pre-viz and all that stuff gets broken down because it has to.

Tugg Speedman

Ben Stiller takes on the role of Tugg Speedman in Tropic Thunder.

But then when we got to this scene where we had to shoot a movie set itself, that was really the most complicated, strangely, and most frustrating. I was really surprised at how hard that was. In general, the action stuff to me was really fun to do because you can actually take time with it and it’s very painstaking, but you get to prep every single shot and you do it one shot at a time. While the other stuff that’s more free form, you kind of have to figure it out as you go along.

When you’ve got five or six actors in every scene too, there’s a lot of coverage with the camera. You’ve got to shoot everybody. We had a really good time though and we had really good time to prepare the movie. I had six months or so.

And then I got out there for a couple of weeks with the actors rehearsing with the cameraman and we shot angles and did a lot of pre-work on those scenes so that when we got out to shooting them we knew basically how we were approaching it, because I felt like I needed to do that if I was going to be acting in the scenes.

Tom Cruise Prepares for Food Fight

Tom Cruise is rumored to be joining the comedy Food Fight.

Cruise's decision to enter into the comedy genre follows his much buzzed-about performance in Tropic Thunder. In the movie, opening this week, he plays a fat, bald, over-the-top studio exec. The role is receiving rave reviews.
