Wes Craven Screams Again!

This just in: Wes Craven will be directing Scream 4!

Back in January, we noted that it was possible that Craven might return to the table for a fourth Scream. After months and months of speculation as to the extent of Craven's involvement, it's been confirmed that he will indeed be sitting in the director's chair for the fourth installment.

Joining him on another scary romp will be Scream veterans Neve Campbell, David Arquette and Courtney Cox, but sources say that those may not be starring roles. Word on the street is that Neve Campbell's part is more of a cameo.

Craven has been busy spinning new horror yarns in the 10 years since Scream 3, most recently hitting the pavement again with My Soul to Take.

Boondock Saints Director is Still a Jerk

I'm probably going to piss some people off when I say that Boondock Saints is one of the most mediocre movies I've ever seen. So, it was with much surprise that I discovered that Boondock director Troy Duffy was actually allowed to make a sequel, cleverly titled Boondock Saints 2: All Saints Day.

Well, he might have beaten the odds and gotten another movie made, but reports are that he himself hasn't changed all that much. A recent New York Times article examines the situation.

Troy Duffy1

“He hadn’t learned an awful lot,” said the comedian Billy Connolly, who plays the lethal character Il Duce in both films. “But he was much more sure of himself.”

Oh no! the last thing we need is for Duffy to be more sure of himself. Check out the documentary Overnight to see what I mean.

Here is a guy who literally had the keys to the kingdom handed to him, and instead of spread the wealth and be happy, he decided to screw over his family and alienate just about all the friends he had. He even managed to bite the hand that fed him by making an enemy of Harvey Wienstein, who bizarrely thought Duffy would be the next Tarantino. He had it all in the palm of his hand and ruined just about everything.

Todd Fossey, the producer of Overnight,  had this to say: “It’s hard for me to imagine, after Troy’s track record, that anyone would take him at his word unless there was some financial end in mind. I have to admit it is impressive that he got the sequel off the ground after making enemies of the likes of the William Morris Agency, Harvey Weinstein and nearly everyone else in the industry. It’s amazing what one can accomplish when they sell their soul.”

Duffy, however, views it all differently.

“I learned things about myself,” he said, “but it had nothing to do with that film. I’ve learned that politics need to be played in this business. I have learned that there will always be people who try to drag you down and the measure of a man is how he reacts to that. I’ve been gut-punched a million times and stood back up and kept moving forward, and now here I am coming out with the sequel.”

Yes, Troy, because you were such a victim. Asked if there was anything else he learned, Duffy said this: “I learned that if your friends ask you for permission to follow you around with a camera, the correct answer is no.”

Yep, that's the sound of big change... Boondock Saints II opens in a limited theatrical release on October 30, 2009.

Jessica Biel Dishes Dirt on A-Team

Previously, we posted some pictures of Miss Biel on the set of the new A-Team movie, but in a recent interview, she's elaborated on what's in store for us.

Jessica Biel Photo

Biel recently sat down with MTV News to talk a little bit about the film, revealing that the project will embody a more serious tone than the classic 80's tv show on which it is based.

"I think it will be a little bit similar here and there but we really have our own tone going on," she said. "It’s a little bit less campy than the actual show and a little bit more serious action and fighting sequences but still with lots of humor. Lots and lots of humor."

Asked if there would be any familiar faces from the 80's making an appearance, she had this to say:

"I don’t know about [possible cameos] actually. Up to my knowledge at this point no," she said, adding that she'd like to see Mr. T play some kind of role. "That would be great. I can't imagine that people wouldn’t want to see him. When you think of A-Team you think of Mr. T, so that'd be great. I don’t know about it though."

And there are new details about her character, Carissa Sosa, who was previously reported to be an Army General:

"She works for the Department of Defense, so she's sort of after the A-Team throughout the whole movie," she said. "She had a previous relationship connection with one of the members of the A-Team, but not presently at the moment is their particular love interest."

The A-Team movie is set to hit theaters June 11, 2010.

Jason Voorhees Catches a Predator

Before, he played a big, scary guy in Friday the 13th, now, it looks like he'll be playing a big, scary guy in Predators. Actor Derek Mears has been added to the cast and will play an unspecified role in Robert Rodriguez' Predator reboot.

Friday the 13th Picture

Mears, who played Jason Voorhees in the Platinum Dunes remake of Friday the 13th earlier this year, announced that he had been cast in Predators at a horror movie convention. It is unclear what his role is, but one can surmise that it will probably be one of the large, menacing Predator warriors that the sequel/reboot is to feature.

Predators, which shoots in Texas, features Adrien Brody, Topher Grace, Danny Trejo, Walton Goggins and Alice Braga being kidnapped and whisked away to the Predator home planet where they are hunted. Nimrod Antal is in the directing chair.

Predators blasts on to screens July 7, 2010.

Wes Craven No Longer Working 25/8

Wes Craven's newest film won't be called 25/8 when it hits theaters next year. The horror guru recently revealed on his Twitter page that the film's new title will be My Soul to Take.

Apparently, the title 25/8 used to be appropriate for the story, but the term 25/8 has since been dropped from the script. Craven adds that 25/8 was only meant to be a working title.

Max Thierot, Denzel Whitaker and Shareeka Epps star in Craven's first film that he has written and directed since New Nightmare in 1994. Thierot plays "Bug," a young man who is possibly being terrorized by his serial killer father sixteen years after his supposed death.

Once My Soul to Take is competed, we should know more about whether or not Craven will direct Scream 4. Stay tuned.

Angelina Jolie Tapped to be a Tourist

Hollywood's favorie femme fatale Angelina Jolie has signed on to play an Interpol agent in the Spyglass thriller The Tourist.

After much consternation, the project is finally finding some much needed direction. The project, which is a remake of the 2005 French film Anthony Zimmer, was originally a Tom Cruise vehicle that would have co-starred Charlize Theron. However, Cruise pulled out to pursue Knight & Day, and Terminator Salvation's Sam Worthington snagged his spot.

"The project languished, however, until Spyglass drew interest from Jolie," reports Variety. Spyglass is working to secure The Lives of Others director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck with Jolie's participation.

In The Tourist, Jolie's character apparently "draws an unwitting American tourist into her attempt to locate a criminal who was once her lover."

If all goes according to plan, we should see The Tourist in theaters sometime in 2011.

Miley Cyrus Films Sex Scene!

Last week, we mentioned that Miley Cyrus was on a short list of cameo appearances featured in the upcoming sequel to Sex and the City. Well, now we have pictures as proof!

In the film, Miley Cyrus plays herself in a scene where she bumps into Kim Cattrall's Samantha Jones on the red carpet, only to discover that they're both wearing the exact same outfit. Talk about awkward!

Sex and the City 2 is scheduled to open May 28, 2010.

Iron Man Gets a New Suit

It seems like this is becoming more and more common: we get new movie information leaked from... toy boxes?

Yeah, that's right. Remember all the hullabaloo over the design of Two-Face's scars when spy shots of the action figure for the Dark Knight character were spread all about the web?

Well, it looks like it's happening again with Iron Man 2. Although, I doubt heated geek controversy will be sparked this time.

A photo has just hit the web showing Iron Man's Mark VI armor design!

Iron Man 2 toy package

And the difference is... the glowing light on his chest is a triangle instead of a circle? Well, sequels have managed to screw up some other heroes' costumes pretty bad before... *cough* Joel Schumacher's Bat-nipples *cough*, but I think we're safe this time.

I have to admit, I was a big fan of the glowing chest circle thingy, but I'll give this triangle the benefit of a doubt. After all, it's still Iron Man.

Iron Man 2 is set to blast into theaters on May 7, 2010.

Eclipse is expected to hit theaters on June 30, 2010.

The Future of X-Men

The X-Men universe is quickly expanding, with an untold amount of comics, animated television series, and a feature film franchise that's spawning spin-offs left and right. So what's next for everyone's favorite mutants?

Leading the Charge

X-Men producer Lauren Schuler-Donner recently spoke to Empire magazine about what Fox and Marvel have in the works. Here are a few juicy tidbits:

On Wolverine 2: "It's actually the story we wanted to use for the first Wolverine film, but [Fox head honcho] Tom Rothman preferred to set the character up with an origin story first. What’s cool about this part of the saga is that Wolverine will be fighting in a different style to what we’ve seen before. Mariko’s father has this stick-like weapon, so Wolverine will have to fight against that. There’ll be samurai, ninja, katana blades, different forms of martial arts — mano-a-mano, extreme fighting."

On X-Men: First Class: "We want it to be like the recent, darker Potters. It should not be a kiddie movie: we’re in the X-Men world so you can’t suddenly change the tone. The First Class comics are really fun — they’re funnier than any other comics I’ve read. Basically in each one the kids are fighting strange villains, sometimes it’s aliens, sometimes it’s monsters. I want to get a flavour of that world."

On Deadpool: "I don’t see it as a problem that Ryan [Reynolds] is also playing Green Lantern. I mean, look at Harrison Ford – he was in Stars Wars and Indiana Jones at the same time and everyone was fine with that. Green Lantern could not be more different to Wade Wilson. Green Lantern is a guy who finds a ring and is thrust into this world, much like Spider-Man. Wade Wilson is a bad ass, a wise-cracking mercenary, who will go out and kill anyone for money. But the thing about him is that, underneath it all, and he wouldn’t want you to know this, sometimes he’s not such a bad ass after all."

One wonders where Bryan Singer might fit into all of this, as he recently stated that he'd like to return to the directing chair for another X-Men movie.
