Eric Bana Touches on Star Trek Role

Eric Bana will be portraying the character of Nero in the upcoming Star Trek remake from J.J. Abrams. The actor recently talked about the role with Comingsoon.net...

You've said that your character Nero will only be making a cameo in the upcoming "Star Trek," but isn't he the main villain? What can you say about that?
Bana: Well, I guess he kind of is, but I guess what I mean is that in the context of the roles I usually do, the weight is firmly on other areas, you know what I mean? It's not one of those roles where you're carrying the movie, is what I'm saying.

I feel like I'm very much in a supporting role, not one of the main guys. So "cameo" is a way of saying I don't feel like, as I am in this film or some other films, where you're clearly carrying a lot of the film. It's a luxury to not be in that position. It's nice to be offered a part like that.

High School Musical 3 Casting News: Ali Lohan Auditions

Reportedly, High School Musical 3 is considering adding a Lohan to its cast. Fortunately, it's not the drunken, promiscuous oldest daughter.

But Ali Loahn is rumored to be up for a role in the upcoming feature film, the first in the High School Musical franchise to be released in theaters.

A source told Marc Malkin of E! that Lohan could be up for the role of a spoiled princess, a Sharpay (Ashley Tisdale) in training, in the movie.

We have no further information at this time, except that a rep for Lohan confirmed Ali is up for a part: "She is auditioning for it."

Amy Ryan on: Gone Baby Gone, Oscar Chances and More

Amy Ryan Pic Amy Ryan is our choice for this year's Best Supporting Actress. She stole every scene in Gone Baby Gone.

The actress recently talked with TV Guide about the movie, the upcoming Academy Awards and more...

TVGuide.com: You've already won a number of prestigious critics' awards for Gone Baby Gone. How has the Oscar nomination changed your life?
Amy Ryan: Well, it's kept me busier than I've ever been, but I'm still coming to terms with it. It's still kind of surreal and wonderful. Sometimes it's even hard to believe it's true, yet it's familiar, because you've dreamt it for so long. The attention the movie and I have been getting has opened doors to new material and [the opportunity] to work with these great actors and directors, and that is the biggest prize of all.

TVGuide.com: How did you get the role of Helene?
Ryan: I live in New York, but I was in Los Angeles at the time [of the audition]. When I saw the appointment sheet and it said director Ben Affleck, I was thinking, 'You mean, actor Ben Affleck? He's playing Patrick?' But he's a force when you meet him. He's so well-spoken. He's the brightest man in the room.

I was so thrilled from the get-go, like, 'Oh, this is gonna be good. I hope I get this.' He was so passionate about wanting to tell this story, and that's always infectious, to be around either someone who knows what they're doing or is eager to learn. [Laughs] So he had a combination of both.

Reel Movie Reviews: Be Kind Rewind

reel-reviews-logo47.jpg In Be Kind Rewind, Mos Def and Jack Black pay homage to a handful of classic movies by recreating them in their own low-budget, hilarious way. Gotta hand it to the film for its originality at least.

But does that mean it's worth seeing? Sounds like a case for our nationwide panel of critics!

- For all of [director] Gondry's undeniable talent, it would be hard to imagine him pulling off this delicate and even cornball conceit without his star, Jack Black. -- The Hollywood Reporter

- A sweet and simple story that aims to be no bigger than it is, a shaggy dog fable about dreams and the transformative power of even the worst movies. -- Cinema Blend

Be Kind Rewind Photo

- Gondry would seem to have intended Be Kind Rewind more as a generous, sweet-tempered comic fable. But the souffle never rises. -- Variety

- The storyline is utterly improbable, but Gondry thrives in an alternate world of whimsy and conviviality. -- Film Journal International

Will Arnett Contributes to Arrested Development Movie Rumors

Will Arnett is the third star of Arrested Development to confirm that a big screen version of this genius comedy may very well be on the way.

"It's a long way from the lip to the cup, but yes, I do think an Arrested Development movie is going to happen sometime in the near future," Arnett said, joining Jason Bateman and Jeffrey Tambor in acknowledging the possibility that this dream will come true.

"It is hard to say when because a script needs to be written. With the strike over, it is looking more optimist. It certainly has been talked about recently. I'm on board. I think everyone wants to come back. "

William Hurt is General Ross

2309869_10.jpg William Hurt has enjoyed a long, respected career. With the exception of Mr. Brooks, that is.

The veteran actor recently opened up about his villainous role in The Incredible Hulk, the summer blockbuster starring Edward Norton in the lead role that was occupied by Eric Bana in 2003's disappointing Hulk:

"I'm General Ross, father of the paramour of Bruce (Banner) and the nemesis - so-called conflicted nemesis - of The Hulk," Hurt said at a press conference for his latest film, Vantage Point. "He wants Hulk's power but is humiliated by Hulk's conscience, which he actually sees -- and occasionally recognizes -- is actually more developed than his own, even though he's a patriot and a warrior for his country.

He's sacrificed immensely for that purpose, but at the expense of, at times, all of his humanity, which he occasionally recovers glimpses of."

The Incredible Hulk opens nationwide on June 13.

Dennis Quaid Dishes on G.I. Joe Movie

244quaiddennis021407.jpg The G.I. Joe movie goes into production next week.

At last week's press conference for the film Vantage Point, Dennis Quaid talked about portraying Joe leader General Hawk:

"He's kind of a cross between Chuck Yeager, Sergeant Rock and maybe a naïve Hugh Hefner thrown in there," the actor joked. "General Hawk's aide-de-camp is a Victoria's Secret supermodel. I mean, how serious can it be?"

Quaid added that the story will be set "a little bit in the future. In a way, the Joes are like this international, sort of special forces type of group that mainly fight these terrorist groups that spring up. The movie is more like James Bond, with the group being SPECTRE -- there's this evil mastermind that's behind it."

G.I. Joe is slated for an August 2009 release.
