Rorschach is one of the Watchmen. He's an extreme vigilante whose questionable morality was created by an abusive upbringing and investigating a horrific child murder.

He was born as Walter Kovacs. Rorschach's mother was a prostitute who resented his interference in her business and abused him viciously. At age 10, the character was attacked by two bullies.... but he fought back, partially blinding one with the bully's own lit cigarette. Rorschach later became a ward of the state, sent to the Lillian Charlton Home for Problem Children.
